The Rapid evolution of technology has a huge influence to this world. It’s bringing a new
concept called “e” concept. Start from e-mail, e-banking, e-commerce, e-learning and another e-

the internet as the main source, ebook persuades people to start leaving the traditional book
culture. Ebook also comes with a lot of advantages that printed book doesn’t have. With all those
advantages, ebook has some effects that completely affected the publishing world.

First, ebook changed the way of publishing book. Nowadays, electronic things have spread all
around the world and successfully make a new trends. All informations and systems changed to
electronic systems. When people want to look for an information, they can just find it on the
internet. Just type the keyword in the search engine and then the results will come up. It’s
making a clearly different with traditional system which a book need to be printed first, then sold
by people, store or a company. With this electronic book system, the publishing can be more
easy. The authors or the writers just need to put their files on the internet, and then everybody
can find and download it.

Second, people don’t need to buy books. There are so many sites that provide collections of
books, articles and journals for free on the internet. For example, a website named Questia is the
first website that provide unlimited access to the full text of hundreds of thousands of books,
journals and periodicals for free[CITATION Ron01 \l 1033 ]. A college student or whoever also can
publish their research there. The another site called SoftBook provide a kind of unique services.
People can get a free book by upload a book to the site. This site also provide a free storage to
people who want to save their books to the site in a massive number. So, people can have a
library for theirself. With this advantage, people don’t need to walk to library that far from home
and also don’t need to buy books from bookstore since people can grab it online for free.

Third, ebook is easier to distribute. People can get ebook from many sources. They can
download it from the internet, read it online, or just copy it from friends. It’s different with
traditional book which needs to buy at the bookstore or borrow from the library. It consumes a
lot of time, energy and of course it has a certain price. With ebook, as long as people have the
devices to access it such as computer, phone, tablets and others, they can find it easier and of
course for free. There will be many devices try to compete and adapt with some new features that
better in quality and quantity, and it will be a big influence to ebook distribution.
