ところ
Speaking 1: “日本の行きたい 所 ”

Objective

Create a 3-minute video where you discuss different places you would like to visit in Japan

Due: Fri. Apr. 10, 11:59pm

Weight 10%

Learning Outcomes

1. Develop skills to communicate ideas and negotiate meanings in Japanese

2. Apply knowledge of Japanese to a practical situation
3. Demonstrate ability to complete tasks in a group setting

Completing the Task

Imagine you have been asked by a Japanese friend the following question: “Where would you
like to go in Japan and why?” Maybe you aren’t normally prone to long-windedness, but in this
case, you are so excited about going to Japan, you carry on answering for 3 minutes without
interruption. You “answer” to the question should be in natural conversational Japanese and
use the grammar patterns covered during the first 5 weeks of the semester. You are welcome
to use either polite Japanese (楽しいそうですよ/食べます) or casual Japanese (楽しいそうだ
よ/食べる). You will be expected to discuss past experiences of travelling to Japan, places you
would like to go, the reasons you would like to go to these places, and what you plan to do there.
The idea is that you will incorporate some of the place/ideas into the Writing 1 (travel itinerary)
assessment.

An example video will be made at the end of Week 4 to give you an idea of what is expected.
Please write your name and student id# on a clearly on a piece of paper and show it to the
camera at the beginning of the recording.
