ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The proponents of the project would like to express our special thanks of
gratitude especially to our Professor in the subject Digital Logic Design, Mr. Mark
Lester Dampios for giving us this opportunity to experience creating a system
using Arduino. Because of him, we are able to know about Arduino and
encountered it. He is not like the other professors who attend the class to teach
about his lesson. In fact, he gave his guidance and support. He never forget to
help us when we are having hard times in coding.
Second, to the parents of Kenneth Cadago for being kind, for giving
permission to the proponents to stay at their home for about a couple of hours to
create the prototype and to act like also our parents.
Third, to our friends for cheering up the proponents to continue the hard
work for finishing the system. Special thanks to Ralph Gabriel Mariano for
helping us where to buy the parts needed for our system.
Lastly, our creator God for giving us strength to continue and not to give
up easily in doing the system.

ABSTRACT
every task that we made should be smart and convenient. Applying all the
multiple tasks in a single time. In the field of agriculture, water is very important
but if we have a busy schedule watering plants was a hard task to do.
Nevertheless, our team built a machine which automatically waters the plants if
detected that the soil was dry or has insufficient water. This project are
composed of 7 components like (1) Soil Moisture Sensor for sensing measure
the volumetric water content in soil. (2) Water Level Sensor for detecting water
level in a container. (3) LCD for displaying a real time clock and to notify all
actions that are taking place. (4) Buzzer is for making sound to notify before the
process begin. (5) Rock switch for activating and deactivating the system. (6)
GSM Module for notifications of all actions of the system and it can activate and
deactivate the system by sending a text message. (7) Water pump is a device for

everyday life of human being should be easier and convenient. There are many
or reducing the human activities and jobs. Because, in our daily life, water is very
animals etc. but in our generation now water shortage is becoming one of the
biggest problem. Our group got an idea to create this system from the timely
problem which is the "water shortage", our system focus at the irrigation because
plants are also important to us. The food we eat, medicine, fibre which served as
our clothes that provided by plants. Like us, plants also need a water to make
their food. Water is considered also as one of the basic needs for plant growth. In
the Philippines, agriculture is primary user of water, the water usage is more than
80%, according to the World Bank. With this project, it can help to manage the

The citizen that practices farming or tillage is the main concern of the proponents
of this project. Below are the problems that will try to solve while conducting this study:
1. What will happen if the sensor sensed the soil is dry but the water is not
2. What is the condition and safety or the status of the plant when the automatic

to control the amount of water pouring on to their plants by the use of sensor to
check the status of the soil. This project stand as researchers' solution to the
project called Automatic Watering System. These are, soil moisture sensor,
water level sensor, LCD, Buzzer, Rock Switch, GSM Module, and Water Pump.
• Soil moisture sensor is the one that sense if the soil is wet or dry. If wet, it will
• Water level sensor is the one will check the level of water in a water storage. If
the level of water is low, it will notify the system that the water level is low.
• LCD is for displaying the time and date when the system started. It also display

The completion of this project will redound to the benefit of the community,
since the drought brought by the El Niño is getting worse. This will be undertaken
to find out if the project helps to preserve the agricultural places and to measure
Environment
This will be very helpful to lessen the heat and humidity in Valenzuela
City. The effectiveness of the project can reduce the likelihood occurrence of
flash floods since there are plants and trees that will absorb the massive rainfall.

Society
The project benefits the society of Valenzuela City because it will make
the people to be at ease because the plants and trees will help to reduce the
heat index. It also helps the family and the government because it will lessen the
