1. Explain the Total Quality Management theory.
A core definition of  total quality management   (TQM) describes a   management   approach to
long-term success through customer satisfaction. In a TQM effort, all members of an
organization participate in improving processes, products, services, and the culture in which
they work.
2. Explain the ISO: 9001:2015 Standards and why an organization may choose to adopt these
standards.
ISO: 9001:2015 is the international standard for a quality management system. Companies
shoukd fulfill certain requirements in order to obtain this certificate. The main goal of these
certificate is that company which meets this certificate can provide services and products that
meets customer and regulatory requirements and to demonstrate continuous improvement.
3. Describe the Six Sigma methodology and its relationship to quality assurance.
Six Sigma is a quality management strategy used to assist organizations with improving current
procedures, items or monitoring by finding and disposing of imperfections. The main objective
is to streamline quality control in assembling or business forms so there is practically no change
all through.
There are 2 methodologies in Six Sigma:
- DMAIC  methodology consists of five phases: D – Define, M – Measure, A – Analyze, I –
Improve, C – Control, the main goal of this methodoly is improving existing process, product,
service to meet customer expectation
- DMAIC  methodology consists of five phases: D – Define, M – Measure, A – Analyze, D –
Design, V – Validate and this methodology utilised to develop a process or product which does
not exist in the company.
4. Describe the cost benefit analysis and its role in quality assurance.
It is a designed to determine the relationship between the benefits and the costs of changes to
processes, policies, other procedures. The costs ought to be stated in financial units like dollar
or other currency describing words.
Cost-benefit analyses are usually performed when there is change needs to be happen that is
awaiting to confirm the benefits from the changes be more important than the costs.
5. Describe the use of cause and effect diagrams for quality control.
Cause and effect diagram is method to determine what might happen and why might it happen.
The diagram made by categorizing reasons into smaller pieces. It can also be useful for showing
relationships between contributing factors.  It is usually called Fishbone or Ishikawa diagram.
Cause-and-effect diagrams are utilized in problem-solving circumstances and overall analysis to
categorize factors related to a problematic issues or opportunity to help the problem-solving or
analysis team recognize how those factors may cause the given effect, and to help the problem-
solving or analysis team focus on “next steps” in process improvement.
6. Describe the purpose of a Quality Management Plan and how it is used as a project tool.
The main purpose of Quality Management process is to determine how quality would be
defined and managed throughout of project life cycle. Quality management planning decides
quality approaches and methods pertinent to the project for both task expectations and
undertaking forms, defines who is responsible for what, and documents compliance.
7. Outline the key role and at least four responsibilities of a project manager in relation to
quality.
 Activity and resource planning: right planning enhances quality.
 Ensuring customer satisfaction: For any project, customer satisfaction is one of the most
important factor that implies if the project was successful.
 Analyzing and managing project risk: defining potential risks that impacts project
outcome.
 Managing reports and necessary documentation: good documentation helps quality
control.
8. Explain the use of the Plan Do Check Act cycle as a continuous improvement method and
each of the steps.

9. Explain the concept of benchmarking as a continuous improvement tool.


Benchmarking is the process to assess company’s products and services by comparing world’s
best. It helps companies to strive improving their products or services non-stop in order to be
the best. Also it helps continually adopting or adapting new processes to accelerate
improvement.
10. Explain two benefits of brainstorming as a continuous improvement tool.
Brainstorming is one of a fastest way to produce plethora of ideas and possibilities. It can work
like a fishbone by just coming up with some ideas that causes problems or what could be the
effects of those causes. During brainstorming process, people tend to be free without boundaries
which enables to find some very creative ideas that could solve the problem.
