Reflection
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)
1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology coaching and technology leadership from completing this field
experience?
During this field experience, I was responsible for conducting and facilitating five one-hour Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings. My duties
consisted of conducting each meeting, presenting various data and resources on a projector screen, accessing various digital platforms to create common
assessments, tracking minutes, creating lesson plans, etc. As a technology coach, this experience taught me the importance of being able to multitask. At
times, I had to engage in discussions with my coworkers while navigating various digital tools and sites. This can prove to be tough if you do not know how
to lead with fidelity.

2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs,
enthusiasm) required of a technology facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected above. Use the language of the PSC
standards in your answer and reflect on all 3—knowledge, skills, and dispositions.)

Knowledge – This learning experience related to the knowledge a technology coach should have because in order to coach others, it is imperative that you
have the necessary knowledge to do so. Teachers are more willing to learn new knowledge and skills from leaders who show to be more knowledgeable and
coach others with fidelity. This experience taught me how to use what I have learned about data and school improvement to get teachers on board of using
these things to promote change. Technology is an extremely important component of this process, and I feel that this experience contributed to what I know
about being an effective technology coach.
Skills – The skills that this experience taught be was how to multitask. During the PLC meetings, I had to be able to do many different things at one time
such as interact with the teachers I am coaching, be able to access various forms of data to present during meetings, and be able to effectively maneuver
multiple technological platforms at one time. There were times when the internet connection was spotty, and I was unable to access certain resources that I
wanted to present. Furthermore, I was still responsible for moving the meeting along and showing that this would not interrupt the effectiveness of our
meeting.

Dispositions – This experience taught me the importance of having a positive disposition as a technology leader. There were many challenges that presented
themselves during these PLC meetings, and I had to be sure that no matter what I didn’t display frustration or a negative disposition. The most challenging
experience was dealing with different attitudes and dispositions from the other teachers. Some have been teaching longer than me, so they aren’t as willing to
accept change and support from me. Furthermore, I remained professional and ensured that their positions didn’t affect the supporting and helping
relationship that a technology coach should have.

3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or student learning at your school. How can the impact be
assessed?
This field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development, and student learning. The point of this experience was to ensure that in the
absence of our Instructional Coaches, PLC meetings are still conducted with fidelity. This impacted faculty development because it taught me how teachers
are supposed to work effectively with each other to learn from one another and help support each other. Student learning was impacted greatly because
teachers were able to share things that are working for them instructional, resources that students have been successful with, and being able to compare
student data. All of these are aspects that will help teachers and students grow together. This entire field experience was extremely beneficial for me and will
always be remember as I continue my journey of becoming a technology leader.
