Assignment

The document discusses motion of rotation and contains 3 assignment questions. The first asks about linear velocity and tangential acceleration of a rotating bar. The second asks about finding the radius of a train's circular path given its linear and angular speeds. The third asks about finding angular velocity, acceleration, time of maximum velocity, and maximum velocity given an equation for angular displacement of a particle moving in a circular path.

MOTION OF ROTATION

Assignment ( Aaditional)

1. A horizontal bar 1.5 m long and of small cross-section rotates about vertical axis through one
end. It accelerates uniformly from 30 r.p.m. to 45 r.p.m. for 10 seconds. What is the linear
velocity at the beginning and end of this interval ? What is the tangential component of the
acceleration of the mid-point of the bar after 10 seconds.

2. In a children park, a train is moving in a circular path. If the linear and angular speeds of the train
are 10 m/s and 0.25 rad/s respectively, find the radius of the circular path.

3. The equation for angular displacement of a particle, moving in a circular path (radius 200 m) is
given by : θ = 18t + 3t2 – 2t3
where θ is the angular displacement at the end of t sec. Find (i) angular velocity and acceleration
at start, (ii) time when the particle reaches its maximum angular velocity; and (iii) maximum
angular velocity of the particle.
