11. Domain 1. Planning and Preparation Constructs plans with clear and measureable instructional objectives Constructs plans
with coherent instructional design. Lesson procedures have a clear sequence, aligned with instructional goals and assessments
Constructs plans that have a clear assessment(s), which measures all students’ achievement in meeting the lesson instructional
goals Demonstrates originality in preparing and presenting lessons (creativity) Constructs plans include adaptations for special
needs and/or differentiation Uses appropriate resources and materials which enhance the learning Feedback:

Text Response

The lesson plan was thorough and thoughtful; components were aligned with appropriate Standards and realistic instructional objective; you included several strategies for formative assessment that anticipated a test
two days later. The Essential Question was grounded yet open-ended and insightful ("... describe the relationship between... place value positions"); it can provide structure to many lessons and skills related to
operations with decimals, going forward. The mini-lesson - YouTube decimals parody - was engaging and fit the lesson well. You described it as being 'fun and comedic' but your deliberate lead-in and closure to the
song kept it relevant to lesson content. The body of your plan defined transitions through varied prompts and activities and provided for differentiation, all of which would sustain reasonable instructional pacing and level
of challenge for students.

12. Domain 2. Classroom Environment Utilizes a system of positive reinforcement and behavior management strategies Creates a
respectful learning environment States expectations for learning and behavior clearly Creates an appropriate, safe and accessible
physical space for learning Responds to student inappropriate behavior in a timely, appropriate manner Feedback:

Text Response

The class period started in a non-routine way (unplanned meeting for you and mentor, small interruption from next-door teacher). Nevertheless, you accommodated to change in a very poised way. These two
irregularities were imperceptible to students because of the fluid, professional way in which you stayed focused on the lesson and your students. You began the actual lesson with a DoNow in a deliberate way (voice a
bit soft... but students are receptive and responsive to your instructional style; seems you recognize when volume is/is not needed to gain attention). Students are accustomed to this lesson segment - it provides
predictability and allows students to focus thoughts and expectations on the math lesson. For the length of time I was there, students were well-behaved and attentive. This speaks well of the lesson's plan and
structure - relevant topic/examples and clearly explained.

13. Domain 3. Instructional Delivery Shows knowledge of content by using appropriate pacing, clear communication and
explanations Uses different levels of questioning and discussion strategies that engages all students Uses different types of
instructional strategies that actively engage the learners throughout the lesson Checks for understanding throughout the lesson and
adjusts lesson to meet needs of student(s) Uses collaborative and group activities Provides opportunities for independent practice
that challenges students and allows them to apply what they have learned Encourages and initiates higher order thinking Varies
voice, inflection, body movement Uses a variety of learning modalities (visual, auditory, etc.) Feedback:

Text Response

Your questioning strategies encourage students to think. Example from this class; when a student volunteer did not provide the specific response you were looking for, you encouraged that student by clarifying your
original question as, "What do we need to know?" Nice that you do not provide answers yourself. You seem to be getting more flexible with providing enough time between a question and calling for a response. By
doing this you will invite a broader range of students to participate; they each have different needs to hear and process a question, then formulate a response in their own words, then raise a hand to reply. If you ask
higher-order questions and are looking to give voice to reticent students, you might try to have table groups quietly formulate a response together then ask one student from the group to respond on behalf of the group.
At first, the students you call on can be ones who are typically well-prepared. Once students understand and trust the process you can call upon quieter students - no risk to them because they are providing a group's
consensus answer. Your lesson plan provided for several different modes of assessment, including individually volunteered answers, whole-class agree/disagree nonverbal cues, small group work, and independent
practice worksheets. The last strategy would be the one that shows if all students mcan et the instructional objective.

accurate records Communicates frequently and effectively with families in a culturally proficient manner Engages in/seeks
professional development opportunities Reflects upon and is receptive to feedback Uses feedback to modify/adjust instruction
Feedback:

Text Response

Your classroom presence is very poised; students and colleagues respect your professionalism. It appears that the guidelines for gradual release are being implemented to your, and your students', best advantage.

Contiue to implement gradual release guidelines as feasible in 5th grade Math Explore questioning strategies that increase Your lesson plan "outline" style is thorough and thoughtful. Plans have
classes. (Working towards increasing leadership role in multiple classes.) student voice (see commentary Domain 3) provided solid frameworks for instruction. Continue with this practice!
