FCPS Continuity of Learning Plan, April 9, 2020
FCPS Continuity of Learning Plan, April 9, 2020
"We are going to make it as easy as possible for students K-11 to move on to the next grade."
Virginia State Superintendent Dr. James Lane
● All learning options will be a review of previously taught concepts and skills and
exposure only to any “big ideas” that will be necessary in order for students to
be successful in next year’s classes.
● Teachers will facilitate learning Monday through Thursday, and Friday will be
used by teachers for their planning purposes with the next week’s plan ready
for students and families the proceeding Friday.
● Teachers will have “office hours” at least once a week to be able to check in with
students as needed but will also be available through email.
● Schools will communicate plans for material pick up if needed and will be
handled curbside with a “grab-and-go” method.
● Supplies needed to work on assignments will be kept to a minimum and should
be supplies that ALL families will have on hand.
● For students in Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement, and Drivers Education,
teachers will be communicating specific instructions for these courses.
● Most the learning options for students consider that not all families have the
same availability for internet connection.
● Cellular device connection will most often be sufficient for student participation.
Many learning options will be “low tech” or “no tech.”
● Students will use Blackboard, email, or other ways to communicate their
learning to their teachers.
● During Week One, April 14-17, teachers should consult with their students to
identify the specific needs for technology for students. Students who find they
need a device for learning, should consult the FCPS Device Distribution Plan.
