1. This document outlines a project proposal for a Machine Learning Based Personalized Food Recipe Recommendation System being developed by students at the Maharashtra Institute of Technology. 2. The proposed system aims to recommend cooking recipes to users by analyzing recipe content and user preferences/conditions, in order to help people who don't know what to cook with one click. 3. The objectives are to design an efficient and effective food recipe recommendation system using appropriate recommendation methods, and to suggest preferred recipes to users.

Title of the Project: Machine Learning Based Personalized Food Recipe

Recommendation System.

Introduction: In general, people like to cook but they have no idea on what to cook and
how to cook. Now a days, people are faced with the limited selection of meals and are
often constrained in searching for recipes. Currently, many cooking recipe website allow
people to search for recipe but cannot provide the personalized recipe recommendation
based on user preferences.
We aim to propose a method or system to recommend cooking recipes by
analyzing the content of recipe and considering users condition and then develop a
recommendation system with propose method.

Motivation: The traditional recommendation systems provide suggestions by not taking

user’s conditions into account. The main motivation is to help those who have no idea
what to cook with only one click of button. With this system, the user does not spend a
lot of time to get his/her preferred recipe.

Objectives:
 To make use of appropriate recommendation methods or approaches to design an
efficient and effective food recipe recommendation system.
 The main objective is to suggest a preferred recipe to the user.

Brief Description: In our project, we extract the information of user’s rating and the
recipes information from the web using web crawling also the information is taken from
the www.food.com website. After the crawling process, the pre-processing step is taken
place and stored the useful data into the recipe content database. We have the sparse
rating matrix that is of user versus recipe. After that, divide the sparse user versus recipe

matrix into train and test dataset. After that, train the recommendation using training
dataset. Apply the test dataset on the train model and evaluation and prediction is done
for the model. In this way, the project recommend the recipes according to the user’s
preferences.
