Executive summary

The following report will include different aspect of Atos, since it is important regarding the

complexity of the industry Atos operates in to fully understand the company’s different features.

Atos is a company with h more than 120 000 employees are working across 72 countries (with

many outsourcing, offshoring and nearshoring) .

Moreover, we will look at the context in which I was working from a three-dimensional

approach (division, geographical Unit, Market approach…) to measure the extent and the

relevance of our analysis.

Since I had the privilege to perform with TTS Iberia financial and managerial team in my first

Internship month, but also with the global Business & Platforms solutions department during the

second, my report will cover two different problematics (associated to task accomplishments

within the company):

- The Activity and Inactivity Rate of the TTS Iberia employees ratios analysis to align it

with the target employees cost presented in the internal cost reduction program (RACE

program)
- The promotion of a new Atos product for their partners worldwide : personal elevative

speeh and updating of the promotional video

service): I spent the most of my Internship time at your financial department of TTS. You
helped me managing the software financial reporting tools as SAP (Software &

Applications Program) .

- Mr. Sigfrid Escobar Thrilla : The CEO of TTS Iberia Operations. I would like to thank

you for receiving me one entire week at your offices in Barcelona. You helped me

developing my business problematic and making it beneficiate to the company.

Atos in a nutshell

Headquartered in France (Bezons), Atos is a French multinational information technology (IT)

among the 10 worldwide leading IT companies .Atos is a the european leader in digital

transformation, offering hi-tech technological services, cloud, big Data and cybersecurity

services.Since 2001, Atos is the official IT partner of both the olympic and the paralympic

games. Alongside with its leading position among IT companies, Atos has been very active as a

Mergers and Acquisitions with many aquisitions and merging operations.Starting its creation,

Atos has acquired no less than 19 companies, the most recent is the acquisition of Syntel in July

2018 . Among the most important Merging and Acquisition operations in the history of Atos, we

can name :

 The acquisition of KPMG consulting group in 2002

 In December 2010 , Atos settled an agreement for the acquirement of Siemens IT

services and solutions

 The acquisition of Siemens IT for 850 Million Euros doubling the size of the company

 The acquisition of Syntel for 3,4 Billion Euros.

In order to get a better understanding of this multinational firm , we will try to understand  its

functioning from a  three dimensional approach: Geographical approach which is represented by


what is called the Global Business Units , an approach related to the services the company

provides to its partners worldwide we will call Divisions and finally the market approach.

 IDM: Infrastructure & Data Management is composed of 2 Sub-Divisions: IDM

Managed Services and IDM Business Process Outsourcing: This sivision includes TTS

(Technology transformation service)

 UCC: Unified Communication & Collaboration: this new Division corresponds to the

addition of the former S&P and CCS Divisions. To be noted that most direct people have

been transferred to the new IDM CCS Tower:

 B&PS: Business & Platform Solutions is composed of 4 Sub-Divisions: Consulting,

Systems Integration, Technology Services and Atos Syntel. Atos is taking full advantage

of local strengths and strong partnerships to deliver digital at scale. This Unit offers

software developing offers to all Atos partners across the worls.

 BDS: Big Data and Cybersecurity: Atos is leading the enhancing of adapted platforms

with cybersecurity products and services for the new machine age, applying its expertise

in technologies to move up the value chain

I- Presentation of the project’s business problem

During my time at Atos, I had the privilege to work in different departments. Since my

main objective has been helping contributing as much as I can to the TTS procedures, I

collaborated in the making on two different project within the company

A- The analysis of the TTS Team efficiency (employees) through the first semester of

2019 to measure their impact over TTS performance. The analysis includes the

comparison between the TTS employees performance based on target and the

performance based on imputations.

B- The European commercialization of a new Atos product aiming to create a revolution

in the business digitalization field named Atos Codex

A-

The analysis of the TTS Team efficiency (employees) through the first semester of

2019 to measure their impact over TTS performance. The analysis includes the

comparison between the TTS employees performance based on target and the

performance based on imputations.

1- Methodlogy

We used Excel for the computation of the acivity and Inactivity rate for the TTS

Iberia employees. Based on the files of employees imputations, we were able to


provide the company with reccomandations to optimize the output of their

employees to align it with RACE objectives.

2- Goals and objectives

Alienation with Atos Race Program

In fact, there is an internal program which was developed By Atos names Race. The

managerial board of the company names Mr. Nouredine Bihmane as head of the

project ( before turning this year into the Head of B&PS ) . This project consisted in

providing the heads of every department in every Geographical Unit with a target cost

reduction intended to be met by the last semester of 2021.

Since TTS Iberia was concerned by this this project, TTS Iberia is a sub-division of

TTS (Technology and Transformation service) . Mr. Sigfrid Escobar Thrilla proposed

to me collaborating with him in the assessment of his employees general

performance over the first semester of 2018.In fact, Mr.Sigfrid wanted to know the

real impact of different parameters over the Inactivity rate of his employees. Hence,

using Excel , we analyzed:

.The semestrial activity rate based on imputations

. The semestrial inactivity rate average of TTS Iberia employees

. The variance cost expressed in Euros + the variance cost expressed in hours

. The impact of employees Illness over their inactivity rate

. The impact of employees formation over their inactivity rate


.The impact of employees family commitment over their inactivity rate

. The impact of national vacations over their inactivity rate


3- Results

The gap between the activity rate based on target and the activity rate based on

imputations for this 2019 first semester is equivalent to 2.5 %.

To have a better representation of this ratio, we will express the loss incurred by

TTS Iberia compared to their Target performance under the following 2 formats:

- TTS Iberia incurred a loss of 301 hours

- TTS Iberia incurred a loss of 10519 Euros

In other words, TTS Iberia employees worked 301 hours less than their target

hours performance and made the company lose 10519 Euros more than the

average employees semestrial cost0

From our analysis of the gap between the activity rate based on imputation and

the activity rate of the SCR ( Target activity rate) , we could easily mark January

and to a lesser extent May as two months where the inactivity of employees
reached worrying levels. The variance cost reached 35 hours which is equivalent

to a loss of 30659.77 Euros.

We notice that for the month of January, the difference between the inactivity rate

based on target and the inactivity rate based on imputation is no less than 7 %. In

our analysis of the parameters influencing this ratio, we could notice that the

section “ exceptional reasons” presents a very high proportion of the employees

inactivity rate since it is exceeding by 15 % the semestrial average based on the

impact of this section for the rest of the months for this semester. The TTS Iberia

sub-division incurred a huge loss in this month and wasn’t able to recover it any

later in the semester.

We were able to identify January and May as months where the company incurs

more employees costs than the target cost. This can be due to different factors

mostly because the effect of what the company call “exceptional reasons” impacts

the ratio of Inactivity rate twice more than the semester average. The human and

Ressources TTS Iberia department is called to revise the days-off employees are

taking in this month of June and analyzing the costs per specialization:

- Value-Added resale

- Service Now

- Maintainment service

Reccomendations
B- The European commercialization of a new Atos product aiming to create a

revolution in the business digitalization field named Atos Codex.

Atos Codex

I participated to the upgrading of a promotional video for Atos partners to convince

them adopting Atos Codex. In fact, Atos Codex is a product Atos is trying to

commercialize worldwide that is aiming to help their partners achieve business

digitalization.

As we are in the area of technology based business models, companies from all

around the world are shifting into Business digitalization . Hence, it is important to

make them understand the role Atos Codex will play in unlocking the value of their

Data today to achieve competitive advantage for tomorrow .

Atos Codex is a complete portfolio for data driven business transformation. It is

important for companies to run, build and secure their business processes and that is

what Atos Codex will offer to them.

Conclusion

During this Internship, I was able to work on two different projects of the

company . The employee activity and inactivity rate analysis was intended to

give Mr. Sigfrid Escobar Thrilla a complete analysis of the employees under his

responsibility as a CEO of TTS Iberia expecting to meet the internal employee

and procedures cost reduction program called RACE. The TTS Iberia financial

department is now intended to analyze which employees of TTS ( according to

the separation of procedures) are incurring most costs in the alarming months.
