January 19th, 2020

Dear Students,

Hello! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. As you know my name is Mr.
Zavala-Cintora. I attend Hope College in Holland, Michigan, but I am completing my student
teaching here in Philadelphia. Back at Hope College I double majored in Spanish and Social
Studies for secondary education, which means I can teach grades 6th-12th.

As I said before, I will be your student teacher. This means I will be your teacher, but I
am also a student. I am still learning how to best teach and how students best learn. That is why
this semester will be one of lots of growth for all of us. The first couple of weeks I will observe
the way Mrs. Vecsi teaches and I then I will slowly begin to teach most days. When it comes
close to the end of April, Mrs. Vecsi will take over more of the teaching once again.

During my time with here we will be studying Islam, the Middle Ages, the Crusades, the
Renaissance and Reformation, and the Absolute Monarchs of Europe. As part of my Social
Studies major I took several World History classes and consider history my favorite sub-
discipline within this subject area. I am sure we will be able to have lots of fun while exploring
the many wonders of World History together.

Lastly, I want to encourage you to please reach out and contact me with any questions
or concerns you may have. We will get to know each other a lot better as the semester
progresses, but in the meantime if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me
at [email protected].

Looking forward to a great semester together,

Mr. Zavala-Cintora
