Lower Emissions, Improved
Performance, Lower Costs.
The ISL G is the newest evolution of alternative uel
‘engine technology, combining al the advantages of clsan-
bbumring natural gas engines with "no compromise” power
and torque for shuttle bus, urban transit, vocational and
Urban truck/tractor pickup-and-delvery applications.
It combines hich displacement and superior horsepower
with proven wastegate turbo technology for impressive low.
end torque and transient response, with an increase in fuel
cfcioncy. The ISL G also meets 2010 US. EPA, CARB and
EURO EEV emissions standards - today!
‘The ISL G features a proven block that is shared wth the
rugged Cummins ISL. diesel ~ a ful-skirted block for increased
‘gi trength. The design provides superior piston ring
and bearing if, improved coolant flow and targeted piston
cooling for greater reabilty and superior durability Lite-to
rebuild and rebuldabilty are the same as diesel

The 8.-Iter ISL G uses stoichiometic cooled- Exhaust Gas
Recirculation (EGR) combustion, leveraging Cummins proven
EGR technology to create a high-performance natural gas,
engine. Stoichiometric Combustion isthe ideal combustion
process during which a fuel is burned completely
‘The cooled-EGR system takes a measured quantty of exhaust
gas, passes it through a cooler to reduce temperatures before
mixing it withthe incorning air charge to the cylinder. The use
of cooled EGR (in place of large amounts of excess ait) not
only lowers combustion temperatures lke our current lean-burn
technology, it also allows the creation of oxygen-free exhaust,
ich in turn alows for the use of a Three-Way Catalyst (TWO).
TWCs are simole passive devices that are Mantenance-Free
‘and have been commonty used in passenger cars since
the 1970s,
‘Stoichiometric cooled-EGR combustion improves power
density as well as fuel economy — important benefits that
fleets enjay every day. In fact, low-speed torque is improved
by over 30% compared to previous engines.

Leveraging the proven technoogy of current engines, the
ISL G features ful electronics provided by a new
state-of-the-art Electronic Control Mode (ECM) that,
contol the fuel system, engine sensors and an advanced
Cummins high-energy ignition system — a system designed
for better perforriance and longer service intervals, improved
spark plug and coll durability, as wel as sel-degnostes.
‘The ISL G natural gas engine not only meets 2010 EPA and
CARB emissions lavess, it also sets a new benchmark for
lower alternative fuel vehice ile cycle costs. In high fue! use
applications, the lower alternative fuel costs, improved fuel
economy and lower incremental maintenance costs of the
ISL G make it possible to save valuable fleet dollars,
Enhanced electronics provide the ability to compensate for
\arations in fuel quality and operating conditions, providing
every alternative in fuel choioes. The ISL G is capable of
operating on compressed or liquid natural gas (CNG, LNG).
‘The ISL G can also operate on biomethane — renewable
natural gas made frorn biogas or lanafil gas that has been
upgraded to pipeline and vehicle fuel quality. Biomethane
fuel is carbon dioxide (COz) neutral. Cummins Westport
approves the use of up to 100% biomethane that meets
Cummins pubished natural gas fuel specifications,
