Tortoise was sad that he could not run fast because of his shell. However, when he took off his shell to run faster, he got wet in the rain and cold without its protection. Tortoise realized he was happy being himself with his shell, which kept him safe and dry.

Tortoise was sad.
He could not run fast.

Tortoise took off his shell.
He was happy.
Now he could run fast.

Dog wanted to catch Tortoise.
Tortoise ran away.

A big bird wanted to catch
Tortoise.
Tortoise ran away.

It rained.
Tortoise got wet and cold.
He shivered.

Tortoise put his shell back on.
“I am happy to be me!”
he said.
