Subject Description: This subject is designed to learn to value mathematics; become mathematical problem solvers; apply the basic concepts of
Mathematics in different transactions; learn to communicate and to reason out mathematically.

General Objectives: At the end of the quarter, 90% of the pupils must be able to:
1. perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of whole numbers;
2. apply the concept of operations in whole numbers in business transactions;
3. perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions;
4. apply the concept of operations in fractions in business transactions;
5. perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of decimals;
6. apply the concept of operations in decimals in business transactions;
7. solve problems involving whole numbers, fractions and decimals;
8. differentiate rational numbers from irrational numbers;
9. perform operations in rational numbers; and
10. convert units of measurement.
