I. Objectives:

A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding on how Anglo-American literature


and other text types serve as means of connecting to the world; also how to use ways of analysing one-act
play and different forms of verbals for him/her skilfully perform in a one-act play.

B. Performance Standard: The learner skilfully performs in one-act play through utilizing effective
verbal and non-verbal strategies and ICT resources based on the following criteria: Focus, Voice, Delivery,
and Dramatic Conventions.

C. Learning Competencies:
* Use of verbals( EN9G-IIIa-21) Recognize infinitive and its uses

IV. Procedures:
Preliminaries: Prayer, Class routine
A. Review of the past lesson or presenting the new lesson
Play "Verb Charades" in small groups
A charade will be played by two groups with three (3) members each.(5mins.) Best of three.
1. Line-up horizontally, First member will pick-out a card and act the verb written on it then tap the
second member.
2. Second until the fourth member will guess the verb and act it as well to the other members.
3. Last member will be the one to complete the answer with the given blanks on the board.

 Facilitate to determine the verb
To dance is the only skill he wants to develop. To sing in the concert is his dream.
To give is better than to receive To walk is a good form of exercise.
To run in a politics involves passion and interests To share the good news is important.

B. Establish purpose of the lesson


At the end of the lesson, the students are expected;
 Identify the uses of infinitive,
 Demonstrate their understanding about the function ofinfinitive through varied tasks, &
 Help build teamwork in all the activities.

C. Presenting examples / instances of the new lesson


Infinitive is a verbal that begins with to followed by the base form of the verb.
*base form of the verb does not add s, es, ingor ed.
Examples: to dance, to run, to give, to sing, to walk and to share
These can be used as nouns, adjectives or adverbs.
To eat on time will prevent ulcer. (Infinitive as noun)
note: As nouns, infinitives can be used as subject, object and complement.
The person to consult about your health is a doctor. (Infinitive as adjective)
It is practical to leavenow (Infinitive as adverb)

Infinitive together with its modifiers and complement is called infinitive phrase.
Examples: to run the marathon, to dance gracefully, to walk the whole day, to share the blessings,
to give whole-heartedly

To eat on time will prevent ulcer. (Infinitive phrase as noun)


The person to consult about the book is my publisher. (Infinitive phrase as adjective)
It is practical to leave early in the morning. (Infinitive phrase as adverb)

D. Developing Mastery
Differentiated task: Divide the class into five groups and do the following tasks.
1. Present a dialogue with the use of the given infinitives (group 3)
2. Make a diagram about the qualities of a good leader with the use of infinitives (group 1)
3. Perform a song and identify the infinitive in it (group 5)
4. Create a board game about infinitives (group 2)
5. Create a poem using infinitives (group 4)
Rubrics: Content=20 Creativity=10 Presentation=10 total=40

E. Finding Practical Applications of Concepts and Skills in daily living.


Let the students answer the questions using an infinitive or infinitive phrase.
1. What do you want in life?
2. What do you plan to do on your birthday?

G. Evaluating Learning
Make a Sentence. Do a Sentence Strip activity with the class so students can practice using verbs and
expressions that go with infinitives. Write your answer in ¼ sheet of paper.
