school. After the training, the trainee will be able to handle situation properly and he will
be able to know how to socialize well with his colleagues.

On-the-Job Training will helps in the preparation of future professionals for their
future jobs. What the students learned in their OJT, even the little things, can be applied
when they are already working. Students will be trained not only academically but
socially as well.

In the Laguna University, Information Technology Program curriculum requires

students to undergo 500 hours of practicum outside the campus which aims to complete
the concept and theories that they have learned, to the development of their full potential

PROFILE OF THE ORGANIZATION

On Sept. 24, 1972, President Ferdinand Marcos enacted Presidential Decree No.
1, which organized the provinces of the Philippines into 11 regions as part of his
Integrated Reorganization Plan (IRP). The IRP created Region IV, known as the
Southern Tagalog region, and was the largest region in the Philippines. At this time,
Region IV consisted of Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro,
Occidental Mindoro, Quezon, Rizal, Romblon, and Palawan. In 1979, Aurora formally
became a province independent of Quezon and was also included in Region IV.
Executive Order 103 dated May 17, 2002 made great changes to the Southern Tagalog
region. Due to its size, Region IV was split into two separate regions, Region IV-A
CALABARZON and Region IV-B (MIMAROPA). Aurora was transferred to Region III,
Central Luzon. Currently, CALABARZON consists of five provinces: Cavite, Laguna,
Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon.

Formal separation of NIA Region IV as split region was effected by virtue of NIA
Board Resolution 7678-11 adopted in March 11, 2011 and Office Memorandum 26-2011
by Administrator Antonio S. Nangel dated March 29, 2011. Turn-over of stewardship
from Efren S. Roqueza, Regional Irrigation Manager to Conrado V. Cardenas, Jr.,
Interim Officer in-charge was done April 27, 2011 at Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

During this time, the NIA implementation of Rationalization Plan is on-going

(2008-2012) and Region IV was rationalized to a six Irrigation Management Offices
(IMOs) namely: Laguna-Rizal IMO, Cavite-Batangas IMO, Mindoro Oriental_Romblon

IMO, Quezon-Marinduque IMO, Mindoro Occidental IMO and Palawan IMO. After the
splitting of Region IV, the six IMOs were divided into two. Region IV-A has retained
jurisdiction on Laguna-Rizal IMO, Cavite-Batangas IMO and Quezon IMO.

TRAINING EXPERIENCE

In more than a month that the trainee stay at NIA, the trainee learned many
things not only those things related to her course but also the things that molded her into
the person who is she right now. As she was working as a trainee at Supply and
procurement Property, She learned to be a hard-working person. The time to finish the
task assigned to her is important, but it is also important that the trainee should do it
correctly. She learned to be more sociable and to adjust herself in the environment
where she’s working at and who is she working with. The trainee also learned to follow
the instructions and to accept her failure and should learn from it the way that her
supervisor said to her.

During the intern stay there as trainee, they kept on encouraging and motivating
her to study hard and to do her best always. That experience won’t forget the trainee
and the whole team of Supply and Procurement Property who challenged not just her
skills and abilities but also her patience. The whole team was a kind of person who
wants everything to be done immediately and correctly. The trainee was always nervous
every time they calls for my help. But with that experience that the trainee had with her
supervisor. She’s thankful to them because they taught her to be more patient and to be
confident of what she know is right and not to have doubt about what the trainee can do.

The trainee had a meaningful and memorable On-the-Job Training at National

Irrigation Administrations (NIA). Though she didn’t finished her 500 hours due to Covid-
19 Pandemic. She’s looking forward to working with them, not as a trainee anymore, but
as part of NIA someday.

INSIGHTS

On-the-Job Training requires effort and seriousness. A trainee should take the
OJT seriously it can be a powerful tool for a person in preparing for the next chapter of
life as professional. It can possibly be a source of recommendation when they take that
big boost from being students to career professionals someday.

Aside from work experience, On-the-Job Training allows the trainee to get
familiar with the real professionals and to meet people having different positions in the
company, either high or low. The trainee will be able to know how to adjust to other
people’s personalities and attitude that they will use when they working in the real world.

can support the students to gain more knowledge and to improve the skills. Experiencing
the reality of working outside the school is necessary to boost knowledge and to be more
confident after graduation and after leaving the school.

Undertaking the On-The-Job Training (OJT) is the right way to apply the knowledge that
trainee learned in school. As the trainee taking up him On-The-Job Training, the trainee
learned a lot of new skills and abilities that will help him, to fulfill his dream. The project
that his Project Advisor asked him to make is the best stepping stone for him to learn
new knowledge. Because of the experience, the trainee is inspired to do things that will
help him to learn more knowledge and keep studying even after the training is done. The
trainee realize that exploring the reality of working outside the school will be surprising
experience that will cause the trainee to be more responsible, more cautious in making a
