Sphero Waves Investigation
Sphero Waves Investigation
4-PS4-1 We will be skilled at developing a model of waves to describe patterns in terms of amplitude and that waves can cause objects to move
in order to make the biggest amplitude possible with a sphero.
Directions:
1. Place a piece of tape along the length of one side of your tub on the resting line of the water in your bin.
2. Attach a ruler vertically on the side of your tub with the tape, perpendicular to the line of tape.
3. Use the sphero in the tub of water in order to determine how to make the biggest waves possible.
4. Create a sequence of code after determining how to make the largest waves.
5. Place a small object in the water.
6. At the appropriate time, complete all three wave tests.
a. During each test, measure the amplitude of the waves using the ruler attached to the side of the tub.
b. Record what you notice about the wavelengths.
c. Record what you notice about the small object.

How did you have to code your Sphero to make the amplitude of the waves bigger?
What did you notice about the wavelengths when the amplitude increased? (chat with the class, comparing amplitudes and wavelengths
before responding independently)
What did you notice about the small object throughout the investigation?
