Time and Component Justifications

7:45 a.m.- 7:50 a.m. Morning Meeting Morning Meetings are a great time to get to know
your students and see how they are doing this
morning. This gets them all settled to learn for
the day and maybe wake up a little. Greeting
each and every student is important because it
helps them learn to trust you and feel comforted.

7:50 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Interactive Read Aloud Interactive read aloud are important because they
help the students understand that reading is
important. The teacher will read a story to the
class modeling how important reading is. The
Teacher will read a book to the class while
having a group discussion and a picture walk will
helps the students understand and predict what
will happen in the story. This helps them with
comprehension and vocabulary.

8:00 a.m. – 8:10 a.m. Shared Reading Shared reading is very important for students to
help with their literacy skills. The students will
read together with the teacher or chorally. The
purpose for this is for students to read as a whole
group together. When the teacher reads this way
she is promoting fluency, punctuation and
expression.

8:10 a.m. – 9:10 a.m. Reading Workshop Reading Workshop is important so that students
get the help that they need in small group setting
one on one with the teacher. The other part of
reading workshop is that students are then
allowed to work in reading centers with groups.
Students will also read to themselves during this
time so that the teacher can go around and help
any students that need the extra help.

9:05 a.m.- 9:45 a.m. Specials/Teacher Conference Specials is a very important part of every
student’s academic career. Music, computers and
art helps student’s brain development through
creativity. P.E. is very important so that students
can understand how important exercise is for
their health.
9:45 a.m. – 9:55 a.m. Interactive Writing Interactive writing is important so that students
understand how to write and why it is so
important for them to learn. Teachers will help
students be creative when writing and this will
also help with their fine motor skills.

9:55 a.m. 10:25 a.m. Writing Workshop Writing workshop is very important so that
students are allowed to work one on one with the
teacher and get the specific help that they need.
This is a great time for writing centers where
students can work in groups writing different
stories and getting help from GT students or the
teacher when needed.

10:25 a.m.- 10:35 a.m. Shared Writing Shared writing is important so that students are
able to create sentences together with the teacher
to become better writers. This helps them
remember the different grammatical importances
and help them with their creativity and
vocabulary.

10:35 a.m.- 10:50 a.m. Word Study Words study is very important because it helps
students recognize words by writing them every
day. When students both see and write these
words it helps them remember what the word is
about how to spell it. Learning these words will
help them with their comprehension and reading
fluency.

10:50 a.m.- 11:30 a.m. Play Centers Play centers is very important for students to be
able to be creative and use their imagination.
This helps with their brain development and to be
children. This will also help them expel some
energy and stay healthy.

11:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Lunch Lunch is important meal of the day so that
students can get the proper nutrition that they
need that they might not get at home.
 12:00 p.m.- 12:15 p.m. Recess Recess is important so that students get the brain
break they need and they are able to run off some
energy through interactive play.

12:15 p.m.- 12:25 p.m. Music and Movement Music and movement are very important in
helping students improve their memory and their
cognitive development. This will help them be
able to express themselves and they will learn
new skills.

12:25 p.m.- 1:55 p.m. Math Activities Math activities are very important so that
students understand how math works. They also
need to sing different songs to help them better
remember their numbers, the calendars, the days,
and the months. This helps them learn through an
interactive fun way. Using different
manipulatives will help them better understand
addition and subtraction. Using different shapes
will help them be able to recognize the different
shapes in their everyday lives.

1:55 p.m. – 2:10 p.m. Recess Recess helps students stay healthy through their
creativity and the energy that they use. Recess is
very important to help students come interact
with their peers whilst having fun and enjoying
being children.

2:10 p.m. - 2:20 p.m. Snack Time Snack time is very important so kids who are
growing they need to be able to have a snack so
that they can continue to learn and grow.
Students might be going home to no food and
this will help sustain them until breakfast at
school in the morning.

2:20 p.m.- 2:50 p.m. Science/Social Studies Science/Social Studies is important to get
Alternate 2 days/3 days students understanding what both subjects are
and why they are important this helps with their
creativity and through experiments and songs.
Creative fun experiments in the classroom for
science. Learning fun songs about social studies
will help them learn about both subjects through
an interactive way. Reading books about
 important figures and watching videos will help
them understand these concepts more readily.

2:50 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. Free Time/Pack Up Free time is a great way to end the day by having
students unwind and be able to soak up all the
knowledge that they have learned throughout the
day. It gives the students time to pack up and get
ready for their afternoon meeting.

3:00 p.m.- 3:15 p.m. Afternoon Afternoon meeting is a great way to close the day
Meeting/Dismissal and see what students remember from the lesson
of the day. This will help them commit on the
information to memory. The teacher can ask
them their favorite part about different lessons
are she can remind of them of different parts of
them. This will help with recall for the next day
when they come to school.
