Baby dumping has become a common problem in Malaysia. Over 1,000 cases have been reported from 2010 to 2019, with 64% of babies found dead. The causes of baby dumping include lack of sex education, declining moral standards, societal views of unwed mothers, and cultural/family influences. Providing sex education at a young age and addressing the underlying social issues could help reduce baby dumping in Malaysia.

Informative Outline

Name: Siti Nur Ashikin Binti Mohd Redzuan

Matric Number: 2020974119

Class: AS2221A1

Topic: Baby Dumping

General Purpose: To Inform

Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the causes, consequences and solution of
baby dumping.

Central Idea: Baby dumping brings nothing but detrimental effects and has become one
of the most common problems in Malaysia owing to the fact that it does
not only affect the individual but so as to the society and country.

I. Introduction
A. Attention Getter:

“More than one thousand babies have been dumped since the year 2010 to May 2019 and
sixty-four percent of them in the recorded cases were found dead,” said Minister Datuk Seri
Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail from The Women, Family and Community Development. Many
implementations and efforts has been done by the Malaysian government aiming to break
the rising number of baby dumping but there is still no satisfactory change. So, why are
there still babies being dumped when there are so much more alternatives that does not
involve killing innocent lives?

B. Reveal topic:

My topic of speech is regarding Baby Dumping.

C. Credibility Statement:

A lot of people does not acknowledge the interesting fact about the importance of sex
education in the early age and this is actually the main contributing factor to baby dumping
and why it has become my topic of interest. The problem with baby dumping has been
happening in Malaysia for quite a long time, which is why I have done a lot of research and
reading.

D. Relevancy Statement:

The killing of newborn babies is not a new phenomenon. The percentage of baby dumping
in Malaysia is chronically increasing and it is indeed a worrisome since many innocent lives
of newborn babies were lost. This shows how the society itself is still struggling to
understand what is the reason behind this behavior and action and ways to address it. Thus,
it is very crucial to educate oneself and be knowledgeable about sex education.

E. Preview:

Baby dumping brings nothing but detrimental effects and has become one of the most
common problems in Malaysia owing to the fact that it does not only affect the individual but
so as to the society and country.

moral standards in society, oblique view from the society of unwed mothers, cultural
and family background.

Internal Preview:
It is preferably that children are to be exposed to sex education and inject such
