It is known that to become a teacher, you need to take the Praxis Core Exam and pass it.
As a student at CSN, I will not be allowed to take any education courses at UNLV, NSC, or
UNR to continue my Bachelor’s degree in education until I successfully complete the Praxis
Core Exam. The passing scores for the Praxis Core in Nevada for Math, Reading, and Writing
To prepare for the exam, I have taken a few practice tests in the past. Admittedly I didn’t
do a good job with any of those practice tests I was required to take, and it reflected in the way I
struggled with the ones I completed today. Other than those practice tests I took a long time ago,
I only read the basics about the test to prepare myself for the Praxis Core Exam.
My reading score was a 52% and showed that I need significant improvement in order to
pass the official Praxis Core Exam. In writing, I scored a 73% which showed that I was
borderline and was between passing and failing the actual Praxis Core Exam. My math score was
the worst out of the rest, being a 46% which also showed I needed significant improvement.
Overall, my test scores were not preferable and show I need to work on bringing them up.
In order to pass this exam, I will have to take it far more seriously and put more effort
into studying for it. I will use the resources provided to me by several professors as well as
studying other versions of the practice tests and working on the material I was confused with in
this one. If possible, I will reach out to tutors on campus in order to better improve my scores
