EARTHQUAKES-Siesmic Design Limit States
• Damage Control Limit State for ground shaking of intensity
greater than that corresponding to the serviceability limit
state, some damage may occur.
• Yielding of reinforcement may result in wide cracks that
require repair measures such as injection grouting to avoid
later corrosion problems.
• Also, crushing or spalling of concrete may occur,
necessitating replacement of unsound concrete.
