ON-THE-JOB TRAINING EXPERIENCE AT TAAL VISTA HOTEL

TAGAYTAY CITY

University, Indang, Cavite in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Diploma in
Hospitality Management under the supervision of Dr. Pia Rhoda P. Lucero.

INTRODUCTION

On-the-Job Training is a part of College curriculum to form of training taking

place in a normal working situation. It is a type of direct instruction, training skills to

give the students an idea of what we have in the industry. On-the-Job Training

makes the students a good leader someday because in the early stage they exposed

in the different work situation, it is also a good opportunity for the students to have an

idea they can share and apply what they learned from school performing actual work.

On-the-Job training experience can be a first road to the student to absorb from the

establishment that they had their training.

Objectives of the On-the Job Training

OJT is the most effective method for the students to be familiarized to the actual

work that they will encounter in the near future in a company. This process exposed

the students to the different fields of hospitality industry. Moreover, it allows students

to develop competence and skills through hands-on training.


Significance of the On-The-Job Training

Students who undergone training will help themselves to be prepared for their

future, to become professionals and successful in the field of hospitality industry.

Together with assets for being knowledgeable about the field, truthfulness and

struggle for excellence are the great things that this program taught us. It is also an

advantage for the students to enhance what they learned by just simply work with

experienced staff that will guide and observe how job is done properly in the

hospitality establishment.

Aside from work experience, if you will get a high evaluation, your employer

might hire you after you graduate. Your background in this training is very important

when applying for a job. Oftentimes, employers will ask relevance of your training to

your course and to the position you are applying for. OJT will be your training ground.

If you still have no idea on what is meant to be a worker, OJT will give a hint of

career realities. It will give a sense of confidence that you can use when applying for

a job after graduation. It will also help individuals make informed of the career

choices in the hospitality industry.

Time and Place of the On-The-Job Training

Students are required to take 300 hours training in the hospitality

establishment. The trainee started his on-the-job training on February 21, 2017 and

finished it on April 28, 2017. He conducted his training at Taal Vista Hotel which is

located at Tagaytay City. He had his training every Tuesday to Sunday from 8:00 in

the morning until 5:30 in the afternoon.
