RCD 5000™ Rotating Control Device

The RCD 5000™ rotating control device from Sperry Drilling Services forms a positive seal
on the rotating kelly or drillstring, allowing you to safely divert flow from the annulus away
from the rig floor during managed pressure or underbalanced drilling applications. It can
also be used during conventional drilling for kick control. The RCD 5000 device
complements the rig's traditional blow out preventer stack.

The RCD 5000 device is supplied with flange sizes to accommodate a range of BOP sizes.
The bearing assemblies are designed for quick and easy repair or replacement with a
snubbing adaptor for snubbing operations.

The housing assembly of the RCD 5000 device is designed with a large-diameter bore to
accept large drill bits and bottom hole assembly components.

Operational and Safety Advantages

The RCD 5000 device offers many advantages:
• The compact design means the RCD 5000 device will fit under most drilling rigs
without modifications or jacking of the rig. The compact design also results in better
maneuverability and faster rig-up times.
• All RCD 5000 connections with a diameter larger than 1/2 inch are flanged connections.
• RCD 5000 now features an automated hydraulic unit which maintains consistant pressure
with precision unmatched by most human operators.

RCD 5000 Device Options

Dual Stripper Option (Shown)
• Second sealing element provided for added safety and performance
• Uses same sealing element as RCD 5000 device, eliminating the need to stock multiple elements
• Both upper and lower elements can be easily and quickly changed, reducing
downtime on the rig.
Casing Stripping
• Optional casing stripper assembly adds safety to the operation of stripping casing
• Installs quickly and easily with no modifications to the RCD 5000 device.
Other Options:
• RCD 5000 housing can be provided with up to three 7-1/16-in., 5,000-psi studded outlets
• Bottom flange sizes up to 21 1/4 in., 5,000 psi with through bores up to 17.25 in. can be
accommodated on special request; additional lead time and costs are involved
• Rotating flange spools available for applications where rotation of RCD 5000 device is critical
• Flexible flow line and spooling available from Halliburton.
