Classroom Rules

1. My hands are gentle.

You should always keep your hands and
feet to yourself and respect when
someone asks for space.
2. My words are kind.
Speak to others how you wish to be
spoken to. Remember to T.H.I.N.K.
Is it Truthful?
Is it Helpful?
Is it Inspiring?
Is it Necessary?
Is it Kind?
3. I am a good listener.
Be a respectful listener.
Hands are still, eyes are on the speaker,
and turn on your ears.
4. I can control myself.
Always use good manners, follow
directions, know the procedures, and
maintain positive interactions with others.
Dear parents and guardians,

Welcome to our class! My name is Ms. Matthews and

I’m a first-year teacher. I enjoy writing poetry, playing
with my dog, and running during sunset. This school year,
I’m looking forward to doing fun science experiments,
reading amazing books, and learning about the world
around us! I can’t wait to learn with your child.

First, I’d like share with you our class rules and
procedures, as well as our reward and consequence
system. Your child will be taught all of these starting on
the first day of school, and the expectations will stay
there the whole year. I believe in being a warm and
friendly person, and I teach good citizenship in our
classroom. And, although I believe in being a warm
individual, I also believe in high expectations and getting
your child to aim high.

Please read through our class manual with your child

before the first day of school. This will help them succeed
in our classroom quickly. The class expectations will be
taught for at least the first month, though, so please
don’t worry about memorizing them!

I’m looking forward to getting to know your child and

helping them learn.

Ms. Matthews’ Rewards
When showing positive behavior, being on task, or
following set rules, you have the chance to earn a ticket.
This ticket represents good behavior and shows that you
were doing something good. The more tickets you have,
the better chance you have at winning our class raffle.
Each Friday the class will hold a raffle where the tickets
can be used to win items. There will be different types of
items, such as sunglasses, slime, small toys, school
materials, and more!
You have the choice to use as many tickets as you’d like
for each item or save them for a different raffle.
It’s up to you how you spend them!
It’s also up to you to show positive behavior to earn
them.
The sky is the limit!

Ms. Matthews’ Consequences

Student will start the year by signing a contract, agreeing
to the consequences of their actions. Some behaviors
warrant immediate referral.

2. Note home
3. Isolation
4. Parent conference
