Sewing Practice Mazes

Sewing for kids can be made into a fun afternoon activity that will teach them a valuable skill they can
build upon for years to come. When you are first teaching a child to sew, don’t plan long involved projects
that take hours or days to complete. Allowing them to make a sewing project that they are able to finish in
under an hour will teach valuable skills while giving them the satisfaction of a finished project.

Getting started on the sewing machine can be a little intimidating, so we’ve created a fun beginner
activity that will teach them how to practice straight lines, curves and turning corners of all angles! We
have 5 easy mazes that you can print out and sew on! Children can solve these mazes with a sewing
machine instead of a crayon, either with or without thread in the needle. And don’t worry if you hit a
dead end in the maze, learning how to backtrack over your stitches is a great skill to have too! A word of
caution for parents though, once you use a needle for a paper project, it’s probably best to use that needle
for only paper going forward.
