Students will be able to make evidence-based inferences after studying and presenting
about 5 different Utah tribes.

Objective (s):

The students will understand who the native Utah tribes were and the difference
between them.

Materials:
 Pamphlets
 Trays
 Clay
 Markers
 Paint
 Scissors
 Paper
 Glue

Intended Learning Outcomes: (same as objectives)

After this lesson, the students will understand who the native Utah tribes were and the
difference between them.

Instructional Procedures:

1. I will provide the information for each tribe. The pamphlets would include a map
of where the tribe settled, what they were known for, what they ate, etc.
2. The class would be devided into 5 groups for the Goshute, Navajo, Paiute,
Shoshone, and Ute tribes.
3. Each group would be responsible for learning about a tribe and creating a project
of what the tribes environment looked like, by the information I provided. This
would include houses, animals, food, weather, etc.
4. Once completed, each group will have the opportunity of teaching the class about
their tribe and showing their model of the tribe.

Family Connections: (take home activity)

The students would be asked to write one thing they learned about or found interesting
from each tribe.

Assessment Plan: (how do you plan to assess whether or not students gained the
skill/concept?)

The following day I would pass out a 5 question quiz with questions like “What kind of
weather did the Navajo live in?”.
