SWOT Analysis of McDonald’s UST Carpark

STRENGTHS
● Excellent location. (Located inside a university and nearby hospital)
● Strong media presence.
● High budget marketing campaigns.
● High brand recognition.
● Strategically situated in a noticeable location (corner lot).
● Sells high demand products (food).
● High capital allows for implementation of automated/electrical service kiosks.
● Socially responsible (implements PWD and senior citizen lanes)
● Environment Friendly Service (Promotes segregation, no straw policy, paper bag for
take-outs)
● Accommodates local food tastes (e.g. rice)
● Open during breakfast hours and offers a different menu during said time.
● Large range of products.

WEAKNESSES
● Relatively pricey compared to food stalls in the immediate area.
● Congested and limited seating capacity relative to the amount of consumers.
● Weak signal coverage.
● Lousy service due to rude service staff.
● No delivery service compared to its counterparts.
● Unattractive to health conscious persons.
● Unable to cater to birthday parties unlike every other branch given their size and location
● Limited to dine-in and take-outs because of the absence of deliveries and drive-thrus.

OPPORTUNITIES
● Operates in a high traffic area.
● Since they are located inside a university, they could accommodate working students.
● Partnership with student organizations.
● Could add healthier food options for health-conscious students and patients in the
hospital.
● Could add more “budget meal” options to make their food more affordable since a
majority of their customers are students.
● Could improve interior design to be more conducive environment
● Possibility of distribution of food coupons to entice the students.
● Could give out group meal promos or bundle meals for large groups of students.
THREATS
● Profit depends on the university calendar. If there are no classes, less profit is expected.
● Quarantine has reduced customer traffic.
● Other nearby stalls offer substitute products at a cheaper price but at a bigger quantity.
● Presence of other fast-food competitors such as Chowking, KFC, and Subway.
● Since the location is flood-prone, contamination risks are inevitable.
● Students are too vocal in social media about service, any poor service, poor sanitation or
negative feedback will cause bad publicity and prejudice.
