1. Activity: Answer the Questions

WORK:

● What is your job?

Now I'm a receptionist.

● Where do you work?

I’m working in a Healthy Center that specializes in oftalmologic cases.

● What responsibilities do you have at work?

I have to serve visitors by greeting, and bring them the correct information

that they need. I need to notify visitors. Organize the dates that doctors are

free to bring that day to patients. Be clean and careful with my job space

and my personal presentation. Answers the calls and letters that get into

the office.

● Do you like your job? Yes, No. Why?


Yes, I like my job a lot, because all the time I'm learning new processes and

meeting people everyday . Sometimes it could be difficult but I love risk and

new challengers.

● What was your first day at work like?

Well at first it was so confusing, because I didn’t know anything about

processes and how I can bring the dates to patients, and even i didn't know

anything about how to bring important information, so on the first day I

made some mistakes. But at the same my mentor was so considerate and

she gave me a lot of advice.

● Do you get on well with your colleagues?

Yes, actually I made a lot of friends there. They are so kind and helpful

people, they are always trying to do their best and at lunch I used to be

with the people management psychologist and the other receptionist.


2. Activity ONE DAY AT WORK

I'm a receptionist. It is hard work if we talk about that I need to be calm and

polite all the time, including when some people are angry and they used to

be rude. Because I need at first, have a big smile and say hello to everyone

that get into the building, ’then I have to be clear about information that I

need to bring to the visitors, for example if it is a person who has a date o a

person that needs their clinical exam results. Including I need to give

information about clinical processes, so I have to be careful about the way

that I talk. Secondly I have to be organized with the dates and the days that

everything happens, by the way if someone has a date and even don’t

know who is the doctor, I have to bring that person the information about

who is the doctor and where he or she can find it. At the same time I have

to answer the calls and letters that people that can’t go to the building send

or do it to separate or cancel a date. Sometimes I have to call a lot of

people to confirm their dates.

By the way the building is really great, It is a build with 3 floors, in the first

floor is my place of job, so it’s a big cristal door, with two plants in the both

sides, the room has like 20 chairs and one big tv one of the walls exactly in

front of chairs. The chairs are blue, and the walls are white. In front of the

door across the chairs is my desk, well our desk because we are too in

there, the desk has two computers, formulers, a calendar, four phones, one
copier and a lot of folders. Behind the desk we have a Coffee machine and

one big tv that used to have basic information about our healthy center. By

the way, the principal bathrooms next to the office are on the left. On the

right side are the consultors.

Well, I need this job at first, because it is the only way that I have to pay the

bills and my necessities, because it pays me more than the necessary and

i’m so grateful for that, pay all the services is really expensive and at the

same I need to buy my lunch and my dinner so the cost still increase, and

the second It has this perfect time of job that brings me the time to study at

time, because I want to have my degree so that’s was the first reasons that

I have to start at find a better that I used to have.

I guess that weakness are so difficult to recognize, but I know that in my

case, I used to be so lazy so it’s difficult to me wake up early in morning, I

used to forget a lot of thing so that’s why I need to take note about each

thing that I have to do, and at the end I guess that I am so emotional so, in

my job sometimes is necessary to be neutral and that's cost me a lot. By

the way I have a lot of skills, I always do my best, I’m so kind and polite and

friendly, I love to work in a group and I love the idea of learning something

new.
