This number is not calculated as actual time but takes Into account the engine speed. When thi functor reaches the value 0, tne computer automaticaly selects the [NEXT SERVICE function each time its switched on and displays the message «L000» in flashing mode. After the service has been performed, this function should be reset for the next servic. ‘This value canbe changedby the operator and set to any value requiredbut, when the function is eset, the figure automatically displayed will always be the default value (250 hours). April 1994we 3600 SERIES TRACTORS Datatronic = Use 13A01.3 C. Using the tractor performance monitor Modifying working parameters In the course of your work you may need to modify the working parameters such as the WORKING width or the PERMISSIBLE WHEEL SLIP. Example: MODIFYING THE WORKING WIDTH Select the WORKING WIDTH function. 4 prose the RESET/MIODE solcton key once The standard four-figure value is displayed (in this case 3m) 3, Press RESET/MODE again The display starts to flash. 4, Inorder to adjust the other figures while the display is flashing, press RESET/MODE twice. The next figure starts flashing, ‘Note: Youmove from onemodeto the other (display flashing or not flashing) by pressing the selection key as many times as necessary. Working position Meaning: The counting function is engaged when the implements in the working position, e.g, the plough is engaged in the furrow. This means that headland turns are not counted Automatic control by lift ‘The working position is engaged as soon as you lower the implement. = On reaching the end of the field, the implement is raised during turning. When the implement is raised, the working position is automatically disengaged and the working position warning light goes out. ~ When the implement is lowered again, the working position is re-engaged. ‘The working function warning light comes on after @ time delay of one second to llowthe implementtobe lowered. Counting of the area covered is resumed. Manual control If the liftis not being used, the counting function can be controlled manually by pressing on the WORKING POSITION key. IF the actual whee! slipis lower than the limit, operation continues as usual. If the wheel slip becomes too great (higher than the limit set by the operator), the system raises the implement as high as necessary so that the rate of wheel slip does not exceed the programmed limits. The system operates in exactly the same way as when the operator changes the position of the depth knob. Adjustment and utilisation a) Reset to zero in order to allow the TPM computer to calculate the rate of wheel slip correctly. Carry out the following operations while DRIVING the tractor along in conditions where the wheels do ‘not slip such as on the road or a hard surface (never carty out these operations when working) ~ Select the WHEEL SLIP function. ~ Press the RESET/MODE selection key. ‘The display panel should then show a series of dashes. Keeppressing for about four seconds, until the display returns to normal b) Setting the permissible wheel slip limit 1. Select the WHEEL SLIP LIMIT function. 2. Press the RESET/MODE selection key twice, The display should start flashing, 3. Adjust the limit with the rotating knob. The adjust mentis made from0t099% inincrements of 3%. ©) Using the whee! slip monitoring unit 1. To use the wheel slip monitoring unit, simply press the SLIP CONTROL ACTIVE key. ‘The warning light comes on, indicating that the wheel slip monitoring system is operating, 2. As soon s wheel slip exceeds the selected wheel slip limit (18% for example), the wheel slip monitoringunitisactivated, i.e. thecomputer control system raises the implement with respect to the position set on the electronic lift system. Using the comparative mode The operator first selects the reference conditions applicable to the type of work to be done, such as engine speed, forward speed, working depth of the implement, etc... ‘Once these conditions have been selected, they should be memorised on the TPM computer. This is done with the tractor working in the selected conditions {at a speed of more than 2 kph]. Press the RESET/MODE key and hold it down for about four seconds. The system takes the reference value of 100, where that figure is the average value of the work parameters for the four-second period. During those four seconds, the display panel first becomes blank « » for one second and the four r's errr are displayed indicating that the new reference conditions are being calculated. When the display retums to normal, the new reference values have been recorded and you can release the RESET/MODE key. You can also choose @ compromise between those possibilities or select just one function. Remark: Any increase in the engine speed is shown by indications such as: 1, «115» - showing a 15% in the engine speed, 2. «90» - showing @ 10% decrease in engine speed. This principle is applicable to all functions and this is especially convenient as it means you do not have to, remember figures. You know that, at 2 given setting, you can work a greater area, consume less fuel or work. more economically (see cost factor). Example: Hyouwantto change the value of agiven function (such as the engine speed), simply select that function to see. what effect it will have. a) Press RESET/MODE. The display switches from normal mode to comparative mode, indicated by the letter (0. b) Hold down the RESET/MODE key. ‘The display will show «rrrr». The average of the value for the function is taken over 4 to 5 seconds as reference 100. ©) When the display has returned to normal, you can. see the effect this parameter has on the other functions by using the comparative mode. Counter function ‘A socket (T) located on the right-hand pillar of the cab (Fig. 11) and a contactor (1) on the counter allow a unit, ‘on the counter display to be incremented each time contact is made. Connection (Fig. 12) ‘An input for the counter function is provided on the 14-pin connector (B). Connect up as indicated. ‘An external socket 3 581 138 M1 is available as an optional accessory. Issue 1 April 1994 we [cance += ==] min Fig. 12we Wiring up a switch for a drawn implement When using @ drawn implement, you cannot use the highflow switch on the lift to engage or disengage the working position. One solution is to press the working position key to engage or disengage the WORKING POSITION at each headland turn or when crossing an area that is not to be included in the area worked. inthis case, the working position is controlled in manual mode. This, however, may be inconvenient if you have to operate the switch each time you makes headland turn, In this case, itis more convenient to connect a switch to the drawn implement, performing a similar function ‘to the lift system's high/low switch. Datatronic - Use Connection (Fig. 13) An input for the drawn implement contact is provided (on the 14-pin connector (B) Connect up as shown in the diagram, ‘An external socket 3 581 138 M1 is available as an optional accessory. Using the radar signal on the external connector Ifyou wish to workwith an implement requiring the use of radar equipment, this function is possible with the computer system withouthaving to purchase the radar. Datatronic is capable of generating redar signals simulating most radars on the market. Setting up (Fig. 14) ‘The radar simulation signal is provided on the 14-pin connector (B) Connect the computer's radar signal output o the radar input on the implement. An external socket 3 581 138 M1 is available as an optional accessory. The output signal must be adjusted as described on page 15 (programming), 3600 SERIES TRACTORS 13A01.7 Fig. 13 a Fig. 14 | Issue 1 April 19943600 SERIES TRACTORS we 13A01.8 Datatronic - Use Replacing the batteries [After being used for a number of years, the Datatronic system may appear to become faulty or may become deprogrammed : this means that the computer batteries are low. To replace the batteries, the TPM computer must be removed 1. Move the upholstery on the right-hand pillar of the cab and the control panel {if necessary). 2. Remove the screws attaching the computer to the pillar. 3. Disconnect the 24-pin plug. Remove the computer. 4. Tum the computer over. Remove the lower metal support 5. Separate the rear cover from the display panel and disconnect the harness connecting the rear cover to the printed circuit board Use 3-volt lithium batteries of type BR2326 (Panasonic) Note : Replacing one battery at a time does not necessarily save you having to reprogram the computer as there may be little or no charge loft. 6. Check that the contacts (+/+) are clean and that the lugs and battery support are in good condition. 7. Position the batteries in their supports with the "+" sign towards the holding lugs. ‘Note : Do not touch the polarised faces with your fingers in order to avoid oxidation. 8. Carry out procedures 4 and 5 in the reverse order. 9. Reprogram the computer. See part G, page 17 10, Reinstall the computer. Carry out procedures 1 to 3iin the reverse order. Fuel flowmeter (except 3670- 3680-3690) ‘The assembly is made up of two parts: the degassing bow! linked to the volume flowmeter located in the ‘engine compartment and the indicator located in the cab, 1. Operating principle of the degassing unit (Fig. 15) This unit must always be under negative pressure, either located between the injection pump and the fuel fier when the latter is already under negative pressure or between the inlet and the teed pump when the filters are under pressure, ‘The fuel outlet from the filter or from the fuel tank fils, compartment (A), coming in via pipe (4). The fuel then flows into the meter and is sucked in by the feed pump (ipe (3)). The injection pump delivers the fuel oil to the injection nozzles. The excess fuel from the injection nozzles and injection pump is sent via pipe (1) into the well {B), then overfiows into compartment (C) where the fuel is degassed. The gas escapes through the needle valve and via the vent (2). If the level in ‘compartment {C) is high enough, the float closes the needle valve again to prevent fuel escaping via the vent (2). The degassed fuel is recycled in the feed circuit of, the injection pump at a point on the line downstream of, the meter. A calibrated valve located on pipe (3) ensures that the pressure in the degassing unit is, maintained higher than the pressure in the injection, ump circuit in order to prevent air being drawn in, 2. Operating principle of the volume meter (Fig. 16) This measuring chamber consists of a mechanical ‘measuring device mounted on the piping anda remote electromagnetic or electronic indicator. The mechanical device consists ofan aluminium case in which the measurement chamber is machined and two oval wheels moulded from a base of carbon and pphenolic resin. It does not contain any packing gland or rotery seal. On each rotation, a magnet encased in one of the wheels (3) (Fig. 17) opens and closes a magnetic contact (6) (Fig. 17) located outside the chamber, thus preventing any escape or entry of air. In principle, the meter does not require any specific maintenance. If, however, itis blocked by any foreign body, the following procedure should be complied with (see the exploded diagram) ~ Unscrew the four screws (1) ~ Separate the covers (2), taking care not to pull out the oval wheels (3). ~ Remove the oval wheels (3) with great care and.clean, them with petrol using a fine paintbrush. = Clean the inside of the body (4) in the same way. ~ Reinstall the oval wheels (3) in position, taking care that the wheel containing the magnet is correctly positioned in accordance with the diagram (Fig. 17), as the magnet must be positioned in front of the magnetic contactor (6) in order to operate. ~ Check carefully that the two wheels mesh together. Hf the assembly is carried out correctly, the two wheels rotate freely under finger pressure. A misalignment of even one tooth is sufficient to jam the mechanism. It must never be forced. ~ Reinstall the cover (2) in position on the body, checking, carefully that the arrow is pointing in the direction of fluid flow and that the wheel containing the magnets correctly positioned opposite the magnetic contactor. Guidence is provided by the reference mark «IN» ‘engraved on the back of the meter, on the input side (see Fig. 17) Precautions during assembly Check carefully that the fluid flows in the right direction, (input at «iN». The mating face must be vertical ‘Take care not to allow any foreign body into the meter or the piping, as this could block the meter. 4. Assembly - Disassembly and maintenance of the degassing bow! The bow! (6) is removed from the degassing unit's cover (7) by unlocking (8). This allows general leaning, disassembly of the needle valve and checking of the valve. Fuel flowmeter (3670-3680-3690 only) 1. General description The fuel flowrate monitoring system includes the flowmeter located on the front left-hand side of the engine between the filters and the injection pump (see 44009, page 4) and the interface box located under the cover of the electronic monitoring unit. Datatronic - Use 2. General operation The fuel consumption signal is sent to the TPM computer vie contact 19 of the computer 24-pin connector, contact 2 of connector (X) and contact 7 of the interface box (7). ‘The interface box receives the fuel flowrate signal conveyed from the fitters to the injection pump via contact 3 (blue wire} and the fuel flowrate signal sent fromthe injection pump andinjection nozzles to the fuel tank via contact 2 (white wire). ‘The signal to the computer is the «outward» signal ‘without the injection «return» signal, ‘The interface box is supplied via the starting contactor (21), fuse (39) on the instrument panel, contacts 5 on ‘the white 5-way connectors (AC/AD), the 3A fuse (62), contact 3 on connector (X) and contact 12 on the interface box. Note: These item numbers are specified on the drawing showing electronic functions, ref.: 1646671 M1. ‘The earth is on contact 13 of the interface box. 3. Description and tests for interface box a) Description of system The diesel engine injection system concemed has ‘an inne pump equipped with two pipes: - a feed pipe, = a return pipe ‘The flowrate in each of these pipes varies between 50h and 150 /h according to the load on the engine. The fuel consumption corresponds to the difference between the two flowtates. The fiow in ‘each of the two pipes is pulsed, which results in an apparent instability in the time measured between two pulses on output from the volumetric sensor. Theretumn flowratecan exceed the outwardflowrate for transient periods. In addition, the average temperature of the return fuel is higher than the feed fuel and this means that an erroneous value is, obtained if the return flowrate is simply subtracted from the feed flowrate, Datatronic is designed to receive 1,000 pulses per litre and it uses that signal for both instantaneous readings and for totalising functions. 3600 SERIES TRACTORS eX 13A01.15 ‘The flowmeter used generates 200 pulses per'itre. ‘The purpose of the interface is to: ~ rectify the scale of flowmeter signals, ~ take into account the pulsing of the outwardand retum flowrates by filtering the inputs, ~ allow for the temperature difference between the outward and retum flowrates, using @ correction table. b) Measurements on system No measurement can be made correctly on this system without using an oscilloscope. ‘The pinout of the 25-way connector is as follows: = terminal 2: retum flowrate, ~ terminal 3: outward flowrate, = terminal 7: flowrate output, = terminal 12: 12 V power supply, + terminal 13: earth. On terminals 2and3, and with respect to the earth, the signal is square with a 5-volt amplitude. Each pulse corresponds to the closing of the flowmeter reed relay contact and to a volume of Bee. On terminal 7, with respect to the earth, the signal is square and of 12-volt amplitude. Each pulse corresponds to 1 cc. ‘Some values used to check operation: ——_,_—_, Value Signal (Um) | frequency (Hz) Idling (1,000 RPM) | Outware 58/60 3.25 | Return 56/58 3.15 | Interface output 2 055 Full speed, no load Outward 98 5.45 Return 20 5.00 Interface output 8 2.22 At full load Outward 140 7.75 Return 102 5.66 Interface output 38 105 Purging the flowmeter Run the engine for five minutes to make sure that there is no air in the system. The tolerance on the radar is + 3%. Equipment must never be placed in the radar field. The signal measured by the radar is the difference between the transmission frequency and the reception frequency. The latter varies according to the soil type and condition, if the radar does not operate correctly, it should be replaced with the MF3007 simulator. if that does not solve the problem, itis not the radar that is at fault. Check the wiring and connections. Note: Never stayin the radar’s operating field (about 11m) when it is on. When work is carried out in this area, the ignition must be switched off to avoid problems caused by ultrasonic signals. Fig. 22 G. Programming Note: To perform the programming procedure, use programmer-tester No. 3584003M91. The TPM computer can be programmed after being installed in the tractor by connecting it up to the programmer with the 14-pin connector located on the cab’s right-hand pillar. It can also be programmed outside the tractor (Fig. 23}. Programmer (Fig. 24) Programming controlled by five keys on the face of the programmer. The TPM computer can be programmed with two types of parameters: - Primary parameters Used to programme definite information, such as: to determine whether the computer display will be in metric, Imperial or US units. - Secondary parameters Used to allow for changes in specifications during the tractor’s service life, PPPP Issue 1 Fig. 23 April 1994er 13A01.18 ‘The five keys perform the following functions Key «Ni» (round arrow) ‘The programmer requires certain information at different stages. The «N» key is used for step by step programming, Key «S» (up arrow) This key is used to switch from primary to secondary parameters and vice versa. Key «+» This increases the input value by 1 each time it is pressed. Ifitisheld down for more than 1.5 seconds, an automatic function increments by 10 units. Key «» This decreases the input value by 1 each time it is pressed. It also has an automatic function. Programming key «Pn (broken arrow) This programmes the computer with data input by the user. ‘When switched on, the programmer briefly displays a series of flashing figure 8s. If the display locks in any state this indicates that the programmer has detected a failure in the TPM computer's memory circuits and will not respond to the operator's inputs. Under normal circumstances, the display shows a single figure 8 advancing from eft to right, indicating that the operator can now proceed by pressing the «Ni» key. ‘The «primary» function is programmed in five phases. All five require data input before you press the programming key.
