Task 8
Task 8
Assessments and activities are an essential part of the learning process because they
are the key component of students' success. Teachers use assessments to assess
students' prior knowledge and comprehension process. These assessments can be
presented in worksheets, presentations or even oral questions. However, while
planning for assessments and activities, teachers need to consider their learning
objectives of each lesson. They need to prepare relevant activities to these learning
objectives.
Based on my discussion with my MST, assessments and activities are provided by the
MOE, which are included in the learner's and activity books of grade six students. She
said that most of the time, she implements these activities with her students and
sometimes, she adjusts them according to students' levels, abilities and learning styles.
In addition, she clarified that sometimes she apply other activities that are totally
differ from the provided activities in the students' books, but they still relevant to her
learning objectives. My MST explained that students are bored from the traditional
way of teaching that is why she sometimes implements other activities like learning
games.
Moreover, I followed her by implementing the same strategies while planning for the
activities and assessments during the period of my teaching practice. I used to
consider my learning objectives, students' abilities and learning styles while preparing
for each lesson, which helped me to achieve my learning objectives and improve
students learning.
These are some example of the relevant assessments and activities to my learning
objectives that I applied during my teaching practice.
Activity one: It was a learning game to check students understanding of the new
