CHICAGO SHOWCASE
Scenes, Partners and Showings
Scenes & Partners
• Pick your own scene partners, and be understanding with each other if a potential
partner has already found a collaborator.
• Let Sandra know if you are partner-less, so she can match you up with
someone
• Find two or three scene options, and discuss their value for BOTH actors. START
NOW. It will take time to get it right.
• Contemporary Scenes work better in this format.
• Two minutes in length. Cut as necessary, but don’t sacrifice story.
• Be generous: share materials you find, but are not using, with others
• Contact your acting teachers and other teachers to help you come up with
possibilities.
Week of May 13– 2nd Showing of scenes (Yes, but work on x, y, z ) Location/Time
TBA
This is a rehearsal with Sandra or Cindy or your acting teacher. Each pair should

Chicago-area Photographers
Call and see more than one. Ask to meet with them and see their book. Find the one you are
most comfortable with, and whose photos you like best.
Schedule this quickly. These folks are often booking months in advance. The whole process,
from first meeting through the shoot and then processing your copies takes, at the very least,
a month. The costs range from $300 to $700. Some will ask you to hire a stylist as well,
ranging between $60-$125. Then there are the processing costs when you have them
reproduced. This is an expensive INVESTMENT.
Your picture is one of the most important tools you will have in your job search. Do not
skimp. Agents know quality; they know what is currently fashionable in actor photos. They
will ask you to have new ones made if the quality is not what they’re looking for.

Quick Resume Tips
• Set your margins, so when you need to staple your resume to the back of your headshot,
it can be cut to size. Alternatively, you can create two versions of your resume – one for
digital use and one sized for your headshot.
• Include your phone number, email address and website (if you have one).
• List hair and eye color and height. Leave weight off.
• Make it easy to read. This means a font fit for older eyes; easy to see headings; and
clean, left-justified columns.
• Include only credits that relate to acting, voice and dancing. Do not include tech/design
jobs or academic credits on your acting resume.
• Do not necessarily list credits chronologically. Highlight great roles and known directors
by putting those toward the top of your columns. You do not need to list in chronological
order.
• Do not include high school experience unless you need to fill out your resume a bit.
• Under Training -- Do not include high school summer theater camps, or teachers you
studied with in high school unless they have useful contacts in the professional world.
• Under Training – do not list so many names of teachers that it overwhelms the eye.
Someone looking at the resume should be able to quickly pick out any important names.
Be judicious.
• If you have professional AND college experience, list under separate headings.
• If you are auditioning for a theater, have your theater roles listed above your film and
T.V. roles. Examples of Headings and columns:
PROFESSIONAL THEATRE
A Streetcar Named Desire Blanche Goodman Theatre d. Bob Falls
EDUCATIONAL THEATRE
Twelfth Night Orsino Northwestern Univ. d. Shawn Douglass
Or
NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY
Twelfth Night Orsino Lovers & Madmen d. Georgina Spelvin
