Training

Although Virtual Claims Adjuster is an extremely intuitive application to use, we offer product

training to our users to ease any concerns or confusion. Training these days comes in many
forms:

 Online train the trainer sessions

Time is spent with key individuals within the organization. These individuals are
typically very familiar with their internal processes and the day to day operations of the
company. Our training provides them with instruction on both the administrative aspects
of VCA as well as the user interface and best practices standards

 Group webinar training sessions

These sessions usually involve large groups of individuals who gather for an online
meeting. These sessions will usually cover only the topics that concern the group
involved. If the group is made up of general users, then the administrative topics would
be covered separately.

 Onsite training
Live, in-person training sessions are also available to those requiring it. These sessions
can be single, or multi day events and the curriculum is custom tailored to the company's
training needs.

Recently, we found a need to expand our training to encompass a more detailed review of VCA
after the client has had a good deal of exposure to it. The service has been branded as our VCA
University offering. VCA-U allows us a window of time to spend with our client’s representative
discussing how they have implemented Virtual Claims Adjuster into their day to day business.

The goals of this program are as follows:

 To highlight any features that could be utilized to further optimize their business
 To enforce best practices, and ensure that the client is receiving full value from their
technology investment
 To review any entrenched processes that could be updated to utilize VCA
 To highlight reporting and quality tracking features
 To provide any additional focused training on VCA features or settings

Technical Product Evaluations

As leaders in the claims management industry, we are aware that one solution does not always fit
every client, however we also accept the reality that price should not be the only unit of measure
reviewed.

For this reason our CSR's have regularly been tasked with consulting projects to review the
business needs of a client and assist them with product evaluation. Although the Virtual Claims
Adjuster product is certainly included in the evaluation our insistence in our client's involvement
ensures a non-biased comparison. Their time spent with the client completing detailed product
comparisons ensures that they are able to choose a solution with confidence.

Should you wish to carry this evaluation process out alone, the following are some of the very
basic facts that you should cover in your review:

 Reliability factor
What kind of track record does the application have, ask about application downtime in
the last year.

 Hosting infrastructure
Determine the type of hosting facility, what types of redundancies do they offer?

 Security practices
Is the application secure? What are the provider’s policies as they relate to the
application?

 Data backup options

Does the product include data backup services? Are there any additional options available
to you?

 Product flexibility
How flexible is the product? Can it be configured or customized in any way?

 Ease of use
What type of training is typically required? Does the product feel intuitive to you? Do
you feel that you could you use it without the sales person?

 Product updates
How often are updates issued? How are they issued, on disk, download, or instantly
installed? Can the vendor provide any historical examples of update patterns, ex: How
many updates occurred within the last 12 months?

 Software management
How does the vendor evaluate upgrade requests? Will you be flooded with complex
changes in the future that do not relate to your business yet are forced to use?

 Scalability of chosen platform

How does the product perform under extreme usage? (It may be a good idea to first
define what your definition of 'extreme usage' is) What type of usage loads has the
vendor seen within the product in the past?

 Growth strategies
Does the product offer higher levels of service to ensure that you do not outgrow the
application? How are these implemented?

The Direction Of Claims Technology

As a part of the Virtual Claims Adjuster development process, we first took on the task of
researching the insurance claims industry in order to determine which direction the industry was
headed. Our goal was to determine how to best assist companies who wanted to move their
businesses forward, however during this research we found several very interesting facts.

Buyer Beware! Not all Systems Are Created Equal

If you are new to the market or exploring software options for the first time, choosing the right
claims management system can easily become overwhelming. This article highlights some of the
important factors when reviewing the "fine print" in the agreement terms.

Disaster Recovery Planning

In the past, small to medium sized organizations achieve success within their industry based
on their work efforts, yet fail to realize the risks that their business is exposed to on a daily
basis. Current trends indicate that this is now changing.

In recent years disaster recovery planning has gained attention due to various factors,

unfortunately, this focus is a result of the losses of others. It is now evident that companies of
all sizes are all exposed to levels of risk and need to ensure that they control these risks with
proper planning.

Traditional business men would have us believe that a simple tape backup at the end of the
day (or week in some cases) was sufficient. And that their data was all that was important.
The reality is that, although this is a good practice to follow, it is rarely perfect; nor does it
completely protect them from loss.

 What would you do with your data without an environment to read it from?
 How long would it take to replace or rebuild your environment?
 What types of hardware costs would be involved ?
 What time would be required to secure the physical hardware prior to configuration?
 Are these backups ever skipped?
 Are the backups moved to an offsite facility?
 What would the downtime look like from a cost and client perspective?

The reality is that in the past small businesses had no choice. They were burdened with the
risk due to the fact that the costs involved in achieving a perfect disaster recovery plan were
too expensive. This being the case, most chose to turn a blind eye to the risk and concentrated
on their business.

Over the past 10 years technology has evolved and with that has become more wide spread,
which in turn has reduced the overall costs. Today those wanting to back up to off site
locations can simply create automated processes to transfer their data to a safe location. This
of course still leaves the "loss of environment risk" and there are now several ways to deal
with this factor.

In recent years, our services have been requested to help large enterprise clients evaluate their
current working environments and process to allow for a better disaster recovery plan. These
reviews include

 Items of risk
 Hardware life cycle
 Data backups
 Data loss risk
 Environment replacement
 Recovery time line

The idea is to determine and minimize the time required for the client to recover from a
catastrophic failure. This does not only include data .. but deals with a complete recovery of
all business operations, the costs involved, and the impact on their business.

Our joint investigations have uncovered that various competing vendors have taken short cuts
or simply not lived up to the expectations of the client. Our goal is to avoid these scenarios by
ensuring that we help our clients to conduct these detailed discussions before moving forward
and ensuring that they are aware of the level of security and recovery that they are receiving.

Here at Virtual Claims Adjuster, we minimize these concerns by offering a fully offsite
environment. We are hosted in multiple tier 1 data centers, with redundant power and internet
backbones. All in-house data backups are on various off site facilities and our recovery time is
extremely minimal due to completely redundant environments.

In addition to the elimination of the "environmental risk" we also have facilities in place to
allow the client to request or even perform additional backup services of their own, outside of
our practices.

Please feel free to contact our CSR team should you require any assistance with disaster
recovery planning. Whether you are an existing client looking for further information about
what can be done to better secure your position, or a client looking to make an informed
decision, we are happy to help.
