This document provides calculations to determine the required size of a reinforced concrete column based on an axial compressive load of 1000 kN. It calculates that a column with dimensions of 320x320mm made of grade 30 concrete reinforced with 6 bars of 16mm diameter steel and lateral ties of 8mm diameter spaced at 260mm would be sufficient to support the 1500kN factored load.
