Seguin Form Board (S.F.B) Test

The Seguin Form Board Test measures eye-hand coordination, shape concept, visual perception and cognitive ability by having children copy wooden blocks into matching recesses on a board. It assesses visual-motor skills and was used here as a rapport building technique with a client. The client's shortest trial time was 16.01 seconds and their total time over 3 trials was 57.98 seconds, corresponding to a mental age of 11 and IQ of 134 according to test norms. A single Seguin Form Board Test does not provide a complete picture of development so should be supplemented with other comprehensive tests.

Seguin Form Board (S.F.

B) Test

The Seguin Form Board Test is based on the single factor theory of intelligence, measures speed
and accuracy. It is useful in evaluating a child’s eye-hand co-ordination, shape concept, visual
perception and cognitive ability. The test primarily used to assess visual-motor skills. It includes
Gesell figures where in the child is ask to copy ten geometrical figures to evaluate visual-motor
ability. Test materials consist of ten differently shaped wooden blocks and a large form board
with recessed corresponding shapes. Test was used as rapport building technique with the client.
The time taken on shortest trial by the client was 16.01 second on the third trial and total of three
trials was 57.98second. AS per the score of both condition mental age can be derived as 11 as per
norms and I.Q as 134. This test was used as rapport building technique because a single S.F.B
Test does not gives a complete picture of mental development. It must be supplemented by other
comprehensive tests. It was used as a screening test
