Anything which went violate the Project Specification, Standard, Procedure is Non Conformity
which need to record through NCR.

2. What is the mandatory time to report NCR to SA?


It’s within 48 Hrs.

A pressure test conducted using water or other approved liquid as the test medium.
SAIC-A-2001 describes the required documents for approval before the activity.

21. What is a Golden Joint?


In pipeline and piping networks, the joints which you are not capable to carry out the
hydrostatic test shall be tested by any other means like full RT,…etc. Those joints are generally
referred as Golden Joint.

It’s log which shows the validity of the equipments/Tools used at site.

24. How many months is the required calibration cycle if no manufacturer recommendations?
It is 6 Months.

25. What is an IFC and its purpose?


IFC is drawings and documents which are categorized as the review, and Issued for Construction.
And the purpose is to guidelines for site executions.

The destructive testing is undertaken to understand a specimen’s performance or material
behavior.
Different types of Destructive Tests are Bend Test, Tensile Test, Impact Test and Hardness Test.

29. What is NDT and identify what are the types of NDT?
It is a testing and analysis technique used by industry to evaluate the properties of a material,
component or system without causing damage to the original part.
Different types of NDT are Dye Penetration Test, Magnetic Particle Testing, Radiographic Test
and Ultrasonic Test.

30. What is a WPS and PQR?


Welding Procedure Specification (WPS): It is a set of welding instructions. It aids in planning and
ensuring quality control of the welded product as well as future reproductions of the product.

Procedure Qualification Record (PQR): It is another type of document that also refers to welding.
However, unlike WPS, the PQR documents purpose is to serve as a checklist or record of
compliance regarding the standard requirements of an appropriate welding procedure.

31. What is an essential variable of a WPS? List examples.


Welding Variables that are critical to making acceptable welds are categorized as essential
Variables. Examples; Base metals, Welding Process and Joint Design.

32. What is an Supplementary variable of a WPS? List examples.


A change in the supplementary essential variable will affect the toughness properties of the
joint, heat-affected zone, or base material.

33. What is an non-essential variable of a WPS? List examples.


Welding Variables that do not have profound influence on the mechanical properties of the
weld or those that are associated with the skills of the welder are categorized as non-essential
Variables. Examples; Arc Voltage, Amperage and Travel Speed.
