thoroughly which explain that every set is made up of
elements and we can define a set by listing the elements and
describing the elements.
 The symbols ∈ to mean ‘a member of’ and ∉ mean ‘not a
member of’. Comprehend that a capital letter is used to
denote a set and small letters are used to denote members
of the set. Comprehend that the number of elements in E is
denoted by n(E ).

 Read the Textbook page 64 Information with your facilitator

and discuss what is meant be an infinite & finite set.

 Read Describing a Set on Textbook page 65 which explain

set notation & how to write it. Also go over Textbook page 66
Worked Example 1&2 which explain the concept.

 Read Equal Sets on Textbook page 67 which explains that two

sets are equal if they contain exactly the same elements. The
order may be different. Read the information given in

Textbook page 67 Information.

 Read Empty Sets on Textbook page 67 which explains that a

set with no numbers is an empty set e.g. how many
students in this class vii are under 10 years? There will be no
one, so this is an empty or null set. It is represented by the
symbol {} or by ∅
Go over and comprehend the Textbook page 67 Worked

(Pages 51-57) Task 4: Mail merge
 Think about the problem that we face when we want to
send a personalized text to many people. It is a waste of
time to individually type in the name of each person that
we want to send a message to.
 Make a reference to Mail merge.
 Now, ask yourself some questions, such as:
o What is a merged document?
o Why do we use mail merge?
 Write down some instances where we can use a merged
document, like:
o To send invitations for a birthday party
o To send an e-mail about a meeting for a
coursework
 You should understand that it is easier to use merge when
we want to type many personalized letters rather than type
each one-by-one.

Practice the different steps of mail merge given in the task using
Microsoft Word.
