Introduction to Microsoft Word 2010 – Quick Guide

Key
 “Home > Bold button (Font) ” means click on the Home menu (if it is not already open),
then click on the Bold button in the Font ribbon group.
 “CTRL + b” means hold down the CTRL (“control”) key on the keyboard and tap the ‘b’ key.
Note: these options do the same thing, so you only need to do one of them!

To open a document To start a new document

Basic Editing
To delete words or fix misspellings
Use the mouse to click next to the incorrect word or letter or use the arrow keys to put the flashing
cursor next to the word or letter. Press the BACKSPACE key to delete letters to the left of the
cursor. Press the DELETE key to delete letters to the right of the cursor.

To change the color or style of text
First select (highlight) the text by dragging with the mouse, then select settings in the Font ribbon
group in the Home menu.
