Experiment 3 Differential Amplifiers: Dokuz Eylul Univertsity Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering

This document provides the objective, equipment, and procedure for an experiment on differential amplifiers. The objective is to measure DC voltages and currents in a differential amplifier and obtain its differential-mode gain, common-mode gain, and common-mode rejection ratio. The equipment includes transistors and resistors. The procedure involves constructing a differential amplifier circuit, calculating and measuring its DC voltages and currents, applying an input signal to measure the amplifier properties, and explaining why the common-mode gain may be non-zero.

OBJECTIVE

To measure DC voltages and currents in differential amplifier. To obtain measured values of

differential-mode gain, common-mode gaind and common-mode rejection ratio.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

(4) 2N2222 transistor

(2) 2k

(1) 4.3k

PROCEDURE

Part 1. DC Analysis

1. Construct the network of Figure 1 using the BCY58 (or BCY 59) transistor.

2. Write the calculated values of the DC voltages and currents in the circuit and insert the
results in Table 1.

3. Now measure the DC voltages and currents in the circuit and insert the results in Table 1.

4. Apply 20mV peak-to-peak input signal for V1(t). Find ADM, ACM, CMRR and CMRR(dB).
If ACM is non zero, explain the reason.
