CHAPTER 3

TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY

Nature of the Product

Turon or deep-fried banana rolls is a typical Filipino merienda and dessert. This

can usually be seen on the streets being peddled along with banana-que. This delicious

and healthy dessert is an all-time Filipino favorite. Turon is also known for its cheap

price and its easiness to be prepared.

Chicken is the most common type of poultry in the world.  It has been

domesticated and consumed as food for thousands of years.  A favorite among all age

groups, chicken is not only easily available, but is also nutritious and healthy if consumed

in right quantities.

While chicken is a lean meat with loads of proteins, it is also high on cholesterol.

However, chicken provides selenium which contains antioxidants that help control free

radicals and improve your immune system. A 100gms of cooked chicken would usually

contain 239 calories. Of 100gms, 27gms would be only protein which is important for

growth and development of various organs in the body. Besides, chicken also helps in

maintaining the desired body weight. Furthermore, it gives zinc and iron and is an

excellent source for Vitamins B6, B12 and D.

Chicken meat helps to the body weight maintenance. It develops the teeth and its

color and it increases metabolism. Also, according to Swati Kapoor, a nutritionist,

chicken meat guards the body against cancer and other genetic complications.

30 | P a g e
Bananas are one of the world's most appealing fruits. Global banana exports

reached about 18 million tons in 2015, according to the United Nations. About half of

them went to the United States and the European market.

A wide variety of health benefits are associated with the curvy yellow fruit.

Bananas are high in potassium and pectin, a form of fiber, said Laura Flores, a

nutritionist. They can also be a good way to get magnesium and vitamins C and B6.

Banana is important to the body for reasons such as: it helps lower the blood pressure, it

decreases the chance of asthma, combats the formation of free radicals that causes cancer,

and helps in heart and digestive health.

As a result, we have decided to offer a new product named “Chicuron”, a turon

with chicken fillings added. It is a new product in the market that will attract customers

due to its uniqueness.

It is a great snack for everyone especially for health conscious customers.

Chicuron is a nutritious snack because of the combinations of the nutrients coming from

banana and chicken.

Production Process

Our product “Chicuron” is a turon or deep fried banana rolls with chicken fillings

added. Turon is a common sweet merienda of every Filipino, so we added a twist. We

just added a small amount of sugar in the banana and added the fried chicken fillings to

add savor to the snack.

31 | P a g e
We decided to come up with this product because we want to make people
conscious of what turon will be tasting when chicken is added and also to introduce to
people the health benefits given by chicken meat and banana.
