4 - Uniformly Accelerated Motion Graph

This lesson plan focuses on teaching students about uniformly accelerated motion graphs through activities that explore the differences between position-time and velocity-time graphs for constant velocity and constant acceleration motion. The lesson aims to help students understand that position graphs of constant acceleration are curves with slopes that get steeper over time showing increasing velocity, while velocity graphs are straight lines with constant slope representing the acceleration.

Content Standard/s
The learners demonstrate an understanding of how Galileo used his discoveries in mechanics (and
astronomy) to address scientific objections to the Copernican model.
Performance Standard/s
(No performance standard indicated in the curriculum guide)
Learning Competency
The learners shall be able to explain how the position vs. time, and velocity vs. time graphs of constant
velocity motion are different from those of constant acceleration motion. (S11/12PS-IVc-48)
Key Concept/s
 The position versus time graph of a constant acceleration motion is a curve rather than a straight
line. The slope of the curve becomes steeper as time progresses, showing that the velocity is
increasing over time. The slope at any point on a position-versus-time graph is the instantaneous
velocity at that point. It is found by drawing a straight-line tangent to the curve at the point of interest
and taking the slope of this straight line.
 The velocity vs. time graph of a body moving with constant acceleration is a straight-line slanting to
the right and has a constant value for its slope which corresponds to the body’s constant
acceleration.
Specific Learning Objective/s At the end of the lesson, learners should be able to:
