QUESTION NO. 2
Jose Rizal’s school years in Ateneo and UST helps him widen more of his knowledge and
wisdom, he even have plenty of mentors that teaches him to hone his skills and talents. Since you
are already in your Higher Education years, what can you say about the educational system in
our country from the Basic Education to the Higher Education? Discuss.
Our educational system here in the Philippines is managed by the Philippine department of
education. There are six years of compulsory elementary education. This starts at around
the age of six and goes up to the age of 12. As a young student, you are required to start at
the age of six in school and keep working until you reach the age of 12. At that age, you
may be able to stay at your current school for your High School education, or you may
have to move to another school to get your high school education. In high school education,
there are four years of education that starts at the age of 12. The current system asks that
students start school at the age of six and work for ten years, finishing school at the age of
16. The DepEd implemented the K-12 curriculum just adding two more years to high
school that the government believes that K to 12 curriculum in the Philippines will put
Filipino students at par with the rest of the world. Truly, investing in education is the key
toward reaching national growth and development. If you did well enough during your
high school education, you can start working at a higher education, vocational or technical
school, but you must be accepted for it first. Courses last between one year and up to as
many years.
I could say that the Philippine’s education system is not a bad one. It has a plenty of
opportunity for students to get an education. The sequence of events is the same for all
students and is mandated by law. The law also dictates how many days and years a child
spends in school.
QUESTION NO. 3
Jose Rizal sacrifices his own happiness and also his love affairs just to have a focused career or
nationalistic goals. In your case what are the things that you are willing to sacrifice for a certain
goal or mission? And why?
Goals are essential in our development and success. It helps us to focus our attention on our
purpose and make it our dominant aspiration. When we have a definite target, it positions
us for real success.
What are the things that you are willing to sacrifice for a certain goal or mission? I think it
could be my Health. Since, I am now a College student there are many schoolwork’s that I
need to do, and I must be serious. The reality is, we might start to neglect our bodies and
our minds. We start to eat less healthy, do less exercise or maybe reduce it to none, we
might even put our emotional and mental health at risk. It may not be the most ideal thing
to do, but those determined to be successful know that it is only a temporary solution.
We may not be able to put our full attention into our physical, mental and emotional health
but we must be aware of when our body is being overworked. Successful people may start
to neglect parts of their life in order to improve other parts of their life. But this can only
last for a while. Sooner or later you must live a healthier life, or you will regret it in the
future.
If you want to achieve what you really want in life and to be successful, you will have to
make sacrifices. But when you reach the end of that mountain, you will be so very glad that
you never gave up the journey.
