1. Demonstrate a critical understanding of relevance theories and techniques,
problem solving skills and ability to independently used knowledge, equipment
and tools for the design and development of water treatment process. [C3]
2. Demonstrate the ability to conduct, diagnose, analyze and identify common
water treatment equipment and their applications and utilization as part of water
treatment processes [P1]
3. Create a requirement analysis , system design and details design for a water
treatment system which addresses practical water treatment process problems
and select appropriate processes for target pollutants including emerging
pollutants to meet specified water quality requirements based on the Safe
Drinking Act. [C5]
4. Communicate effectively through the preparation of reports and technical
papers. [A1]

11 Strategies Teaching & learning Assessment
Teaching and learning will be via Student learning will be assessed
lecture and laboratory experiments. using written test, group project,
Students will also be required to do individual assignment, practical test,
their own self-study either through and final exam. Peer evaluation will be
guided questions or assignments part of the assessment of a team work.
12 Synopsis This course presents a basic principle to treat water pollutants. All types of modern
water treatment methods are introduced. The class is directed toward surface water
treatment including: intakes, rapid mix, coagulation/flocculation, sedimentation,
filtration, disinfection. A common methods frequently used for commercial and
industrial applications including: ion exchange, reverse osmosis, electro dialysis,
ozone, and ultraviolet also being introduced. A field work with a various industries will
be implemented to gain knowledge and hands-on experience. An awareness of
modern environmental protection legislation and ethical considerations are discussed.
