RCD 2 Load Distribution 1

This document reviews structural analysis and load distribution for reinforced concrete design. It discusses load combination methods, design loads including dead and live loads, and load distribution factors for one-way and two-way slabs. Several building components and their materials are listed along with an example to determine ultimate and allowable loads for various floor and roof areas.

Reinforced Concrete Design 2: REVIEW TO STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS

Prepared by: ENGR BIR

Load Distribution

Combination of Loads

 Strength Design/LRFD – NSCP Section 203.3.1

 Allowable Strength Design/ASD – NSCP Section 203.4.1
 Alternate Basic Load Combination – NSCP Section 203.4.2

Design Loads

 Dead Loads – NSCP Table 204-2

 Live Loads – NSPC 205-1
 Roof Live Loads – NSCP Table 205-3

Load Distribution

 One – Way Slab = S/L ≤ 0.5

 Two – Way Slab = S/L > 0.5

Example 2.1 Load Distribution

The following are the loads for the given building:

1. Office  Ceiling
 Ceiling - Suspended Metal Lath & Gypsum
Plaster
- Suspended Steel Channel System  Floor Finish
- Acoustic Fiber Board - Ceramic or Quarry Tile (20mm) on
 Floor Finish 13mm Mortar Bed
- Wood Block (76mm) on 13mm 3. Stockroom
- Mortar Base  Ceiling
2. Toilet - Suspended Steel Channel System
Reinforced Concrete Design 2: REVIEW TO STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS

- Gypsum Board (10mm) - 25mm

 Floor Fill 6. Room at Deck
- Cinder Concrete (20mm)  Ceiling
4. Rentable Space - Plaster on Concrete
 Ceiling  Floor Finish
- Plaster on Concrete - 25mm
 Floor Finish 7. Roof Deck
- 25mm  Floor Finish
5. Hallway - Cinder Concrete (15mm)
 Ceiling  Floor covering
- Plaster on Concrete - Bituminous Smooth Surface
 Floor Finish waterproofing Membane

 Exterior Walls
- 19.6kN/m3, Full Grout, 150mm thk, both sides are plastered
 Interior Walls
- 19.6kN/m3, Full Grout, 100mm, both sides are plastered

Determine the ultimate and allowable loads for the following:

A. 2nd Floor B-30

B. 3rd Floor B-11
C. RD (B-4)
D. RD (B-7)
