Energy Resources in India

India is the third largest consumer of energy globally, after China and the United States. Coal accounts for over half of India's energy consumption, followed by natural gas and hydroelectric power. Renewable sources such as solar, wind and biomass now account for over a third of India's installed electricity capacity and generate 17% of the country's power. India has significant hydroelectric potential and is a global leader in wind and solar energy production.
