ACTIVITY IV– BUNCH OF CHROMOSOME!

MATERIALS:

Scotch Tape Scissors Folder or Cardboards

Coloring Materials Candies

Folder Scissors
Coloring Materials

Procedure:
1. Prepare two (2) folders (white), Draw 4 circles (radius-2.5 inches) Candies
every folder.
You’re doing good.
2. Now you have four (4) circles. Cut out the circles.
Keep it up!
3. Using a pen or marker, write the Phases of chromosome on each
circle. You can use coloring materials to design your cirlces.
4. After writing the name of chromosomes, use the candies as your
model of chromosomes. Arrange it according to its proper posi-
tion from Prophase up to Telophase. Use scotch tape to hold its

Mitosis and meiosis, are both forms of division of eukaryotic cells and share
some similarities, but also exhibit distinct differences that lead to their very differ-
ent outcomes. Mitosis is a single division that results in two identical daughter
cells. On the other hand, meiosis is a process of cell divisions resulting to four
daughter cells which will never be genetically identical with each other.
Cells produced by mitosis will function in different parts of the body as a part of
growth or replacing dead or damaged cells. They may even be involved in asexual
reproduction in some organisms. Cells produced by meiosis in a diploid-dominant
organism such as an animal will only participate in sexual reproduction. 13

MATERIALS:

Procedure: Coloring Materials Folder Scissors

1. Prepare five (5)folders. Draw two (2) circles on each with 2.5 inches radius.

2. Write the Phases of Meiosis I and II on one part of the circle.

3. Draw the Phases of Meiosis I and II on the other part.

4. After drawing the phases cut out the circles. This will serve as your flash cards in order to famil-
iarize the stages. Get a partner and start with your game by simply flashing the cards alternately,
while your partner guesses the phases on the flash cards. The team who will get the most num-
ber of correct answers will win. Record your scores.

This will measure the familiarization with the different Phases of Mitosis and Meiosis.
