32-Bit Photoshop and Photoshop Elements (Windows)

This document provides installation instructions for Topaz DeJPEG for 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Photoshop on Windows and Mac systems. For all users, the DeJPEG4_setup.msi installer must be run first. Only 64-bit Photoshop users on Windows need to additionally install the DeJPEG4_x64ext.msi file. Instructions are given for locating and copying necessary plug-in files to the Photoshop plugins folder for each operating system. Restarting Photoshop may be needed to access the new DeJPEG 4 filter. Support questions should be directed to the Topaz Labs website.

32-bit Photoshop and Photoshop Elements (Windows)

Important: The DeJPEG4_setup.msi installer is required for both 32-bit and 64-bit Photoshop users - all
users will need to first run this installer. Only 64-bit Photoshop users need to install the DeJPEG4_x64ext.
msi after installing the 32-bit installer.

To install Topaz DeJPEG for 32-bit:

1. Close Photoshop (or your other editing program).

2. Double-click on the DeJPEG4_setup.msi file to launch the installation wizard. Please follow the on-
screen commands by agreeing to the licensing terms and clicking “Next” all the way through in order to
install DeJPEG into the default location.

3. Open an image in Photoshop, then go to Filter -> Topaz Labs and select DeJPEG 4. (If you forgot to
close Photoshop before installing DeJPEG you will need to restart it before you can access DeJPEG 4.)

If you do not see DeJPEG 4 listed in your Filter menu please close Photoshop and do the following:

a. Open My Computer and go to C: \ Program Files \ Topaz Labs \ DeJPEG 4 \ Plug-ins


b. Copy the “tliDeJPEG4ps.8bf” file
c. Put the copied file into your Photoshop plug-ins folder.

You can access your Photoshop plug-ins folder here: C: \ Program Files \ Adobe \ Photoshop \ Plug-ins.
If there is already a TopazDeJPEG4 shortcut file in the plug-ins folder, please delete it before adding the
new one.

After that, please open an image in Photoshop and you will be able to access Topaz DeJPEG 4.

64-bit Photoshop CS4 (Windows)

To install Topaz DeJPEG for 64-bit CS4 and 64-bit Windows XP / Vista:

1. Complete steps 1 and 2 from above.

2. Double-click on the DeJPEG4_x64ext.msi file to launch the 64-bit extension installation wizard. Please
follow the on-screen commands and it will automatically install Topaz DeJPEG for 64-bit Photoshop.

3. Restart Photoshop if it was open and then access DeJPEG from your Filter menu.
Photoshop CS3, CS4 and Elements 6-8 (Mac)

Go to your Apple Menu and select “About this Mac” to verify that your Mac has an Intel CPU. Topaz De-
JPEG will only run on Intel-based Macs. PowerPC’s are NOT compatible with Topaz software. Topaz does
not support anything below Photoshop CS3 or Elements 6. Also, make sure that you are NOT running
Photoshop in Rosetta. If you are, you will need to disable Rosetta before you can use DeJPEG.

To install Topaz DeJPEG:

1. Close Photoshop (or your other editing program)

2. Double-click on the DeJPEG4_install launch the installation wizard. Please follow the on-screen com-
mands by agreeing to the licensing terms and clicking “Next” all the way through in order to install De-
JPEG into the default location.

3. Open an image in Photoshop, then go to Filter -> Topaz Labs and select DeJPEG 4. (If you forgot to
close Photoshop before installing DeJPEG 4 you will need to restart it before you can access DeJPEG 4.)

If you do not see DeJPEG 4 listed in your Filter menu please close Photoshop and do the following:

a. Open up your Macintosh HD then navigate to Library -> Application Support -> Topaz Labs -> DeJPEG
3 -> Plug-ins
b. Copy the “tliDeJPEG3” file
c. Put the copied file into your Photoshop plug-ins folder.

You can access your Photoshop plug-ins folder here: Applications -> Photoshop -> Plug-ins. If there is
already a TopazDeJPEG4 shortcut file in the plug-ins folder, please delete it before adding the new one.

After that, please open an image in Photoshop and you will be able to access Topaz DeJPEG 4.

If you have Photoshop installed in a non-default location you will need to follow the directions in steps to
manually add DeJPEG 4 to your Photoshop plug-ins.
