Yuri Alekseyevich Gagarin  (9 March 1934

– 27 March 1968) was a Soviet Air


Forces pilot and cosmonaut who became
the first human to journey into outer space,
achieving a major milestone in the Space
Race; his capsule Vostok 1 completed one
orbit of Earth on 12 April 1961. Gagarin
became an international celebrity and was
awarded many medals and titles,
including Hero of the Soviet Union, his
nation's highest honour.

Valentina Vladimirovna
Tereshkova (Russian: born 6 March 1937)
is a member of the Russian State
Duma, engineer, and former cosmonaut.
She is the first and youngest woman to have
flown in space with a solo mission on
the Vostok 6 on 16 June 1963. She orbited
the Earth 48 times, spent almost three days
in space, and remains the only woman to
have been on a solo space mission.

Neil Alden Armstrong (August 5, 1930 –


August 25, 2012) was an
American astronaut and aeronautical
engineer who was the first person to walk on
the Moon. He was also a naval aviator, test
pilot, and university professor.

Dato' Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al


Masrie bin Sheikh Mustapha (born 27 July
1972) is a Malaysian orthopaedic
surgeon and the first Malaysian astronaut.
He launched to the International Space
Station aboard Soyuz TMA-11 with
the Expedition 16 crew on 10 October
2007.Sheikh Muszaphar flew under an
agreement with Russia through
the Angkasawan program, and returned to
Earth on 21 October 2007, aboard Soyuz
TMA-10 with the Expedition 15 crew
members, Fyodor Yurchikhin and Oleg
Kotov.
