What Is SAP RF
What Is SAP RF
Ability to run SAP transactions directly on Radio Frequency equipment like handheld or forklift mounted devices.
Eliminates the need for middleware since they directly connect to SAP R/3. Due to the varying screen size of the
different RF devices, SAP has developed special transactions with very easy-to-use logic. The SAP solution is
focused on real-time handling of material flow through RF scanning devices. The concept of having the screens and
the business logic within the SAP system makes it easy to administrate, easy to distribute new processes to each
device, and easy to set up integration test scenarios.
SAP does not use any middleware product. On the one hand, this saves a lot of money and, on the other, it reduces
the effort required to work with additional software serving as a middleware product. Furthermore, it enables you to
keep the number of partners low. It is relatively easy to implement additional processes or change existing functions,
since the entire business logic lies within SAP R/3 ABAP workbench. In essence it provides seamless integration
with SAP.
SAPConsole is a front-end product that translates GUI screens into text screens to display on a character-based
device. The SAPConsole itself does not include any business logic. It is intended as a solution for customers who
wish to use character-based RF scanning devices and do not want to have specific software on each device.

What is SAP Web Console?
Web-Enabled SAP Console is independent of vendor-specific devices and communication protocols.
Features:
Passive tags carry no on-board power, but derive it from the radio waves emitted by a reader. Therefore they have a
practically unlimited life but a shorter range.
Active tags have a built in power cell and have a higher communication range, but a life limited to the life of the
power cell.
The Electronic Product Code (EPC) is a unique number that identifies a specific object (not just types of objects) in
the supply chain. It can be easily stored on a RFID tag. Once the EPC is retrieved from the tag, it can be associated
with dynamic data such as from where an item originated or the date of its production.
