III.

Name of the Group and Description/ Explanation

Our group decided on the name M.A.R.K.S., which means Making Acts of
Random Kindness in the Society. This name is based on the word “mark” itself, which
means to leave an imprint. We want to be able to leave an imprint on society, to leave a
difference in the world. It is our desire that our stay in this world will not be forgotten,
and through our simple ways of helping others, we can ensure that our mission will be a
success and that others will be inspired by it, so that our legacy of change will be
eternal. This is in relation to our zest to become leaders of social transformation in the
world, starting from simple acts of kindness originating from within ourselves. All of us
wish to share this quest in becoming advocates of social reformation. We, as a group,
are united in our willingness to use our God-given abilities and talents to bring about
change and encourage other people to do the same. These simple acts of random
kindness include our day-to-day deeds that exhibit our concern for the welfare of our
fellow human beings. We want to leave our marks on the hearts of those whom we will
help to the fullness of our ability. We would like to help those who are less fortunate
than us, since we believe in sharing our blessings to those who are most in need of
them. We are one in our mindset, and that is, kindness albeit big or small can make a
huge difference in the lives of countless others. That is our advocacy.
IV. Symbol and Description/ Explanation

First of all, we drew footprints in our symbol because it represents Christ’s

footprints in the sand, which is what we also aim to do – to leave marks that will serve a
big purpose and inspire other people. The footprints are red because it represents our
courage to make a mark in society. These footprints have cross and check marks
respectively, which show our perception of right and wrong. The right foot with the
check mark is raised slightly higher than the left foot because it represents our belief
that rightness, or goodness, should always overtake or triumph over injustice and
oppression. Behind the footprints, there is an outward spiral, which shows that change
must start within oneself, then towards others. It is colored blue because it symbolizes
the peace and tranquillity which we aim to achieve in the world. The yellow “psy” sign in
the middle represents our course, which we all chose in order to become the best
versions of ourselves when we start to go forth and bring about change in the world as
young professionals. It represents our insights, and our tendency to look upon every
situation in the best possible light. It is the core of our similarities, which brought us
together and allowed us to collaborate our ideas to come up with the best possible ways
to affect society and bring it towards positive reformation. Lastly, the arrow pointing to
the cross symbolizes our upward path towards the Kingdom of God, which is the driving
principle behind all that we do. It represents infinity, which means that our advocacy for
social change will never end as long as there are people who work for it.

V. Objectives

To initiate the process of social change from within ourselves towards others, by
becoming advocates and heralds of reformation in our own little ways through our
planned community service activities for the children and the unemployed

COMMUNITY:

To encourage the community members, particularly the children and the women of their
society to actively participate in our conquest for social reformation by showing them
