Dramatic Monologue
A dramatic monologue is a combination of the words dramatic and monologue (obviously). The
"dramatic" says that it could be acted out, and is a form of drama, while the "monologue"
defines it as a speech that one person makes, either to them self or to another. A dramatic
monologue is written to reveal both the situation at hand and the character herself.
PAROLLES: It is not politic in the commonwealth of nature to preserve virginity. Loss of virginity is
rational increase, and there was never virgin got till virginity was first lost. That you were made of is
metal to make virgins. Virginity by being once lost may be ten times found; by being ever kept is ever
lost. 'Tis too cold a companion. Away with't! 'Tis against the rule of nature. To speak on the part of
virginity is to accuse your mothers, which is most infallible disobedience. He that hangs himself is a
virgin; virginity murders itself, and should be buried in highways out of all sanctified limit, as a desperate
offendress against nature. Virginity breeds mites, much like a cheese, consumes itself to the very paring,
and so dies with feeding his own stomach. Besides, virginity is peevish, proud, idle, made of self-love,
which is the most inhibited sin in the canon. Keep it not; you cannot choose but lose by't. Out with't!
Within ten year it will make itself ten, which is a goodly increase, and the principal itself not much the
worse. Away with't! 'Tis a commodity will lose the gloss with lying: the longer kept, the less worth. Off
with't while 'tis vendible; answer the time of request. Virginity, like an old courtier, wears her cap out of
fashion, richly suited, but unsuitable, just like the brooch and the toothpick, which wear not now. Your
date is better in your pie and your porridge than in your cheek; and your virginity, your old virginity, is
like one of our French withered pears: it looks ill, it eats drily. Marry, 'tis a withered pear; it was formerly
better; marry, yet 'tis a withered pear! Will you anything with it?

Beep___Beep___
Beep___Beep___Beep___Beep___Beep___Beep.
I can hear my heart beating.
The wires on my chest prick at my skin.
Your breath escapes you unnaturally.
I feel your hand in mine,
Holding on for dear life.
As my eyes darken, my throat lumps up,
And I feel the need to speak my last.
Beep_____Beep_____Beep_____Beep_____
The warning sounds so loud.
My soul escapes through my breath,
And my hand releases its grip.
My strength leaves as the curtains close,
Because the sun no longer shines on me.
Your hair tickles my face,
As you hold me…one last time…
4
Beep_______Beep_______.
The clock ticks down backwards.
The scrubs start coming off,
As those that tried so hard give up.
You begin to plead with everyone who’ll listen,
For some escape from this nightmare.
Your voice rings clearly through the ward;
Your chest heaves as your panic peaks.
Beep______________.
Your eyes glance at the monitor,
And the pain in them is clearly visible.
Your panic has calmed; acceptance crosses your face.
Your hand finds its way to my face,
And your voice softly washes over me.
You say, “Hush now my love; it is your time to sleep.”

Song of Myself
by: Walt Whitman
My tongue, every atom of my blood, form'd from this soil, this air,
Born here of parents born here from parents the same, and their
parents the same,
I, now thirty-seven years old in perfect health begin,
Hoping to cease not till death.

What is Love?

Or maybe just flip it upside down.
For there will come a day when we forget the reason for our being.
There will come a day in which our minds will see nothing but ourselves.
Thus, disarray and chaos will run rampant through the world.
Humanity will suffer the consequences of its own ignorance and sin.
Instead of asking for forgiveness, we place the blame on the Divine.
There will come a day when the world looks up to the heavens and screams,
“Leave us alone!”
On that day, He will look down and whisper,
“As you wish…”

None is travelling

None is travelling
Here along this way but I,
This autumn evening.
The first day of the year:
thoughts come - and there is loneliness;
the autumn dusk is here.
9
Like the lonely tree, Despite its grayed eyes,
10
Mangled and broken, With jaded feeling,
The dry leaf struggles to die, The birds and bees tried again,
But death plays cruel jokes. But to no avail.
Nursery Rhyme

other countries, but usage only dates from the 19th century and in North America the older

Think I'm just too white n' nerdy
I'm just too white n' nerdy
Really, really white n' nerdy
14
Who in the world is he anyway? He always seems to talk much.
Always concerned with status, but still driving a Dodge truck.
Fumbled through missed chances he was given despite the fact,
That many misjudge him because he makes a livin’ from talkin’ smack.
They call him Ryu the sick, and he’s spittin’ fire and Mike,
Got him out the oven, he’s fresh, found him with fresh wounds in his flesh.
A warm chocolate chip cookie, yeah he’s straight off the block,
The type children wanna eat, and is tasty around the clock.
15
Or did he specially get it made.
Forget Mike, nobody really knows how or why he never works hard,
It seems like he’s never got time,
Because he, works to fit in and he came from behind,
And I’ve seen him at work, there’s not a light in his mind.
In the night I hear ‘em talk, the coldest story ever told,
Somewhere far, far away, he drove along,
Into the pure black darkness.
Why would you chase the darkness?
Why would you chase the darkness?
How could you be so, dumb as the lemon slice when you squeeze yo,
16
Just remember the way you’re walking away though,
You need to watch the way you’re walking away though.
I mean after all the things that you didn’t do,
I mean after all the things you did do.
Hey yo, you regret the things that you told me,
Hey yo, I did those things but then you showed me
Cause you walk around like you don’t know me,
But you don’t want me to know that you notice me.
You got no friends, and no homies,
And in the end you’ll be so lonely.
In the night I hear ‘em talk, the coldest story ever told,
Somewhere far, far away, he drove along,
Into the pure black darkness.
Why would you chase the darkness?
Why would you chase the darkness?

“Find me my Love”
18
Find your way to me my love,
As the birdseed finds the dove.
Like the mountains find the sky,
Find me my love, and be mine.

The horizon finally lets go of the sun,
As it is your heart that I have thus won.
The cold of darkness gives way to heat,
As the cycle of day is nearly complete.

Love the life you have to live, The tree teaches us a valuable lesson:
To never take anything for granted.
Live the life you have to love,
It is gratitude that we forget to mention,
Always take less than you give,
And also the tree that we never planted.
And save some food for the doves.

To live is to break
by
Ueda Miyoji
To live is to break
One's heart for the sake of love;
A couple of doves,
Beaks touching on their way,
Are stepping out in the sun.

The Ocean

And its depth is beyond me.
It’s virtue is true.
Never does it speak a lie,
And it will not deceive you.
